Closes February 9, 2001

Description: Closing of the Lafayette 3500 low and medium diesel packaged genset
order board

Features/Benefits: As Griffin ramps up to full production, all packaging operations are being
discontinued in Lafayette. In order to support this schedule, the 3500 low and
medium packaged genset order board is being closed as of February 9, 2001.
Additional information on the Griffin packages is available in the Griffin
Product News LEXX0788 (available on EMC at http://emc.cat.com) and in
the sales support section of the EP web site at https://electricpower.cat.com.

Effective Dates: For low and medium voltage genset packages, the Lafayette order board
closes on February 9, 2001.

Availability: The Griffin diesel 3500 medium and low voltage order board is now open.

Pricing Information: Griffin packaged genset pricing information is available in the on-line
price list. A simplified price list (media number LEBX1012-01) will be
available on EMC by February 15, 2001 (http://emc.cat.com/).

General Comments: Lafayette will continue to accept orders for high voltage packaged gensets
and for any 3500 packaged genset requiring a switchgear conversion until
further notice (but all orders are subject to Griffin conversion from now on).
A separate announcement will be made on the closing of the Lafayette gas
packaged genset order board.
