Lesson 3. Representation of Springs
Lesson 3. Representation of Springs
3.1 INTRODUCTION
▪ Springs are parts workings based on their elastic properties.
▪ Springs can save energy as formed and release a corresponding energy as returned to the original shape.
Therefore, springs are used for damping device, support, etc.
▪ Due to structure and function, there are 4 types of springs.

Helical springs Coil springs Disk springs Leaf springs

3.2 REPRESENTATION OF SPRINGS (TCVN 14-78)
3.2.1 Helical springs
▪ If the number of helix is larger than 4, only 1 or 2 helixes is indicated at each side of springs.
▪ Springs which diameter or wire thickness is not larger than 2mm are indicated as thick continuous
lines and the section region is solid highlighted.
