Site Condition
A Circular Digester of 26m dia. for storage of tons of chicken manure had to be built on top
of low bearing, silty clay soil upto 3m with coarse sand mix gravel and pebbles upto 12m
depth inside Janakpur Agro Farm. The water table was not found as per soil investigation
report.

Soil report is attached in zip file.

The bearing capacity of soil was very low, so Piled foundation was recommended by the
designer. Piled foundations would have served this purpose from a structural view point, but
construction was going to take much longer than the client was willing to tolerate.

As alternative to Piled foundation, Use of Geo-grid was recommended by Sanjay K. Jain

(Geotechnical Engineer).

Use of TENCATE 200/50 Geo-grid was proposed but the cost was too high.

So, Cheaper PARALINK™ 300 basal reinforcement was used for reinforcing soil layer.
