Network Transformers:
Network Transformers are designed in
accordance with ANSI C57.12.40 and constructed
with the corrosion resistance equivalent of
copper-bearing steel:
Cover and Base 0.50in thick
Tank wall and housings 0.312in thick
GE uses a special Network Transformer paint system
for added corrosion resistance.
Subway Type Network Transformers are designed
for frequent submersion and use flat panel radiators

Why do people refer to the GE Vaultmaster

Network Transformer as the "Best in its class"?
• GE Six-Sigma quality initiative ensures superiority in
design and manufacture
• Most corrosion resistant network on the market
• High short-circuit strength
• Low sound level
• Positive sealing facilities
• Insulation system for increased loading capacity Vault Type Network Transformers are designed for
• Lowest losses available on a network transformer "dry" vaults using lighter weight panel radiators with
• Smaller size the corrosion equivalence of 0.093 copper-bearing
• Smallest foot print steel. Typical applications are skyscrapers, high rise
• Most kVA per cubic foot apartments, large office or manufacturing facilities
• Reduced weight where the reliability of a Network System is required.

What is a Network System?

The a-c secondary network system consists of a grid
Of interconnecting cables or bus normally operating
at 208Y/120 volts. The grid is energized at many
points so that the loss of any point of supply will not
cause a loss of service. The system has two or more
primary feeders with one or more network transformers
connected to each. The transformers feed power through
network protectors into the grid. A high degree of
continuity of service is made possible because service
is maintained to the load during such critical periods
as primary circuit failures, or removal of a transformer for
maintenance. The network protector isolates the
transformer from the grid if power is lost protecting the
integrity of the grid. The system is flexible to handle
future load growth by adding additional network
transformers to the grid. [ref Fig. 1]

What is a Spot Network System?

The construction of larger buildings with heavier loads
using 480Y/277 volts has led to the use of spot networks.
A spot network consists of the secondaries of two or
more transformers connected together through network
protectors to maintain a constant source of supply. The
primaries of the transformers are fed from separate feeders.
The use of spot networks places the transformers close to
the load and does away with long secondary cables. [ref Fig. 2]
