PHARMACY STAFF MEETING MINUTES

Tuesday, March 16th, 2021

AGENDA
Present: Call to Order: 11:05am
- Dr. Milfort (facilitator), Dr. Alvarez, Dr. Aleu, Dr. Pino, Dr. Lafferty,
Amanda Palmieri (student), Irfan Khan (student), Dr. Zwachte
Discussion Action items

Old Business
NSU Pharmacy Updates
a. Deliveries/Mail - Dot Express will be starting deliveries within
the next two weeks
- Two fees depending on delivery location: on
campus vs. up to 12-mile radius

b. Texting - No updates

c. Flu Clinics & Aetna - No flu clinics, only walk-ins

d. Billing - Billing will be sent at the end of flu season


(end of April)
e. EQuiPP update - Total of 25-30 patients on EQuiPP for - Dr. Pino to check if all
pneumonia and flu vaccines, and statin staff members have
adherence for diabetic patients access to the account - if
- Increase in number of patients as we have possible, give access to
been adding them to the list those missing
- Pharmacy is negatively impacted when
metrics are not met
- Check EQuiPP frequently, bi-weekly if
possible

f. Diabetes Clinic - Still on hold due to the pandemic - Dr. Alvarez to revisit
- Main challenge is sustainability of the service diabetes clinic project
as not enough pharmacists, and residents are with Dr. Pandya
only hired short-term

g. AR adjudication - Dr. Pino still working with Finance team and - Dr. Pino to follow-up
waiting for approval before payments are put with Finance for

h. CSOS update - Last step is adding staff into the system, for - Dr. Pino/Dr. Alvarez to
which Dr. Pino needs Dr. Alvarez to be call McKesson and input
present as the main person in the account all employees into CSOS
- The process will take approx. 2hrs as we’ll
need McKesson’s assistance over the phone

i. Internal audits - Purpose of audits is to support Dr. Pino - Starting date: TBD

compounding) was signed and dated, day supply
appropriately calculated (i.e., creams, insulin,
drops, etc.), compounding log organized and
complete (formula attached, calculations

pharmacist, etc.)

ICUBAcares Updates
a. HCC calls - So far, 14 patients seen on HCC calls
- Calls are time consuming as requires
preparing cases prior to calls (Thursday AM)
- Calls with interprofessional team: one
member of a consulting group, CCM, nurses,
behavioral therapist, pharmacy, & one
member of FL Blue

b. Reports (financial
and projects) - All figures/numbers in reports are correct in - Dr. Alvarez to find out
the reports and were recently checked by numbers dept. needs to

Clinic Update
a. Discuss residents

a. New phone systems

- PR campus: waiting for another physical
phone and line installation
- PR will assist with Optum cases

b. Trainings
- All staff members to complete training
o Fraud, Waste, and Abuse - Mrs. Demore to send
o Bloodborne Pathogens (immunizers) out reminders of
o Pseudoephedrine trainings when available
o Methamphetamine
o Covid-19 vaccines course (New JJ info
will be added soon) – for
feedback/suggestions, please email Dr. Z
- We will be getting the vaccine very soon, so
refresher course for COVID vaccines needs to
be completed
- Dean Clark will be sending out an email with
specifications on staff requirements

c. Hiring of
technicians’ status
update - Candidates were selected and interviewed - Dr. Pino/Dr. Alvarez to
