1.0 PURPOSE
To provide guidance for inspection during the field fabrication of pipe spools.
2.0 SCOPE
This procedure deals with inspection of the fabrication of pipe spools up to their release
for sandblasting and painting operations.

6.0 REQUIREMENTS
6.1.1 Check fittings and flanges against the Design Isometric Drawings for correct
rating, schedule, bore and dimensions.
6.1.2 Ensure carbon and alloy (especially austenitic stainless steels) are segregated,
preferable in separate shops and that non ferrous tools are being used on
stainless steels. Remove all lead, copper, and zinc items from stainless shop.
6.3.1 Recheck the pipe spool with accordance with requirements specified in 6.2

b. Line Number
6.3.3 Color code the pipe spool ends according to their geographic location.
6.3.4 The pipe spool and/or Isometric, Assemble Drawing Number, Line Number, Pipe
Class (Specification) and spool number should be entered into the Pipe Shop Office
Log, dated and initiated.
