Transition from remote to

in- person
By: Mrs. Lucas
Looking to return in person
● As the world starts to open up we are preparing our
students for a safe and healthy return back to in person
learning.
● The next few slides will guide you on what to expect, how
to prepare for this transition and affirmations to fill
your children up with .
Our digital lives are changing
● As our students and families are transitioning from a
digital learning world to in person learning environment
many may feel nervous about this transition. Students/
families are in position to navigate through a new
physical environment that includes wearing masks and
following social distancing protocols.
● Its important now to speak with our students about the
emotions they may feel entering this new norm. Encourage
students to practice the routines they put in place at
home but now for the classroom for a smooth transition.
Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) Self

awareness competency

● Having our children start the day with checking in with

themselves will help encourage them to set a positive
tone for themselves . Checking in can look similar to
praying, meditating, asking questions such as what can I
bring from my digital learning environment into the
classroom.
● When students are in the classroom continue to encourage
students through affirmations but also help students to
be mindful on how to validate not only their attributions
but their peers contributions to a positive learning
environment. This step can increase a students engagement
to check in while in class and not check out.
Managing in person
● Encourage students to identify different ways to manage
emotions while keeping up with the curriculum in person.
● Consistency is key. Express expectations for students and
what you would like them to accomplish.
● Allow students to reflect on how they feel when returning
back to school. This strategy strengthens the
relationship between student and teacher creating a
positive environment. This allows students to feel heard
and seen especially during this tough transition period.
Safety protocols
● Continual temperature checks.
● Sanitizing before you enter
your classroom environment.
● Wear mask at all times unless
eating or drinking .
● Stay 6FT feet away from your
classmates/ teachers in school
and before entering the
building.
● If unwell alert school and stay
