2. Choose one Music Theorist and explain how his study could help you in teaching music to
your future learners.

Answer:

I choose Edwin E. Gordon music theorist, I know that it will help me to teach music to
my future learners. Audiation is the foundation of musicianship which it takes place when we
hear and comprehend music for which sound is no longer or may never have been present.

Through Audiation, learning music by ear is done by repeatedly listening to other

musicians and it involves hearing sounds mentally. We discover music learning as never ending,
ever deepening process for music expression and enjoyment. I can teach my learners to
developed their audiation skills that they may engage in music imitation as they learn rhytmn
chants, songs, rhythm patterns and tonal patterns but they also engage in music
comprehension as they compare the music they have heard or music that they are predicting
they will hear. The audiation is music thinking, and music thinking maybe expressed in several
ways that may involve, but go beyond, mere imitation.

I believe that Audiation is one way that helps me to teach music to my learners. I will
assist my learners in becoming independent musicians. When the children audiate, they do
more than remember pitches, intervals, durations and rhythm. Each human has the potential to
learn music through music. Ideally, informal music guidance and audiation developed begin as
early in life as possible.
