Mth202 Assignment Solution

Question No. 1:

Prove by contradiction that 9 13 3 is irrational.

Suppose 9 13 3 is a rational number.

Then by the definition of the rational number.
a
9 13 3
b
So, for some integer a or b where both are non-zero.
We have,

a
9 13 3
b
a
13 3 9
b
a 9b
13 3
b
a 9b
3
13b

Since a and b are integers ,so a 9b and 13b are also integers and 3 is the quotient of
these number .So , according to the definition of the rational 3 become rational ,
This contradicts the fact because 3 is irrational. Hence our supposition is false and so
9 13 3 is irrational.
Question No. 2:

Check whether the following argument is valid or not.

pq
q
p

p q pq q p
T T T T T
T F F F T
F T F T F
F F T F F

Since the conclusion p is true when the p q and q are True. Therefore, it is a
premises valid argument.
