PCA-Ethical Communities Worksheet

Worksheet Objectives:
1. Describe the four ethical communities
2. Apply the ethical communities to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

The situation that I am choosing to analyze is some what on going. Before COVID it was
more frequent. Honeywell hires a majority of it’s employees from temp agencies in town,
most of the people they bring on don’t have a clue what it is that is done every day and
the amount of hard labor that it takes to do this job every single day. Even though that is
what training is for and a very few make it past 6 months in the job, us employees who
have been there 1+ years and have a system going for what needs to be done have
expressed to management who does the hiring that it really just hurts us more than it
helps.

2) Describe how the ethics of the organization influenced the situation.

Ethics I think has influenced this situation tremendously, the company doesn’t want to
have ethical issues as no company wants. I don’t think that they see it causes ethical
issues with each new temp hire they bring on when it comes to having to constantly train
a new person for them to only leave less than a week later. It’s not necessarily the fact
that the temps don’t get treated right (we try to treat them like any other employee) it’s an
ethical issue when the HR department gives them lip for not staying more than a week.
That gets spread around to others who may be looking for this job or a similar one. The
word of mouth is the fastest advertisement there is.

3) Recommend how you would apply one of the ethical communities for an alternative
course of action regarding your case.

I would recommend that they not even see HR and just go about their business of finding
another place of employment. This job isn’t for everyone, and our HR department
shouldn’t give lip to the employees leaving if it’s not for them.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about ethics.

I would do the same thing as recommended in answer number three.
