PCA-Human Resource Frame Worksheet


Worksheet Objectives:
1. Describe the human resource frame
2. Apply the human resource frame to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

Discussion post showcasing concerns about ESRI’s involvement in the knowledge of


software use for controversial purposes. My role is that of a software engineer who
comes across the research data leading to raise concerns via the discussion post yet again.

2) Describe how the human resources of the organization influenced the situation.

The organization’s HR structure has its own levels of higher level management. It
was the head of HR, the director, who addressed the situation but it was the way
questions were indirectly answered that caused issues. After the software engineer
created traction on his post and had others join in demanding for their questions to be
answered all that it resulted in was a deleted post. Swept under the rug, only addressing
that the individual who made the post will be talked to directly and any questions that
others mights have can be directed to a mailbox that would take weeks in getting a
response.

Due to the secrecy of how the situation was delt with caused for lots of whispers
and eyebrows to be raised. Swiftly getting rid of the post and not addressing the issue
even though easily dozens of employees were requesting for a statement only makes the
organization seem more suspicious and guilty. Vulnerablility within an organization can
create a more sense of security and relationship with the higher management.

3) Recommend how you would use the human resources for an alternative course of
action regarding your case.

Using this case to bring awareness to potential human resources issues within the
company would serve as an example of why changes need to be made. Hiring an external
consultant to assess the structural way that ESRI handles these dilemmas would be my
first step. Investing in applications or platforms to harness a better sense of

communication in the workplace. Maybe conducting a blind survey to establish where
employees stand and what change they expect to see.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about this frame.

After learning about this frame its important to execute with effective planning. Knowing how
and where to act is key. Addressing not only the primary concern, but those to come in the
future. It’s concerning that at times raising concerns in the workplace can result in retaliation.
How can spaces be created where people are not afraid to speak up and help advocate for others.

I’d ensure that change came in a gradual way and not immediate. Remaining patient when you
want to make an actual impact will matter. There is a lot to consider as far as do’s and donts
within this frame. This chapter gave me perspective in how other large companies came to make
changes in their organization.
