2021 Champion Schools Diving Competition

Secondary School – Wednesday 17th March 2021 @ HBF Stadium, Mt Claremont


Primary School – Thursday 18th March 2021 @ HBF Stadium, Mt Claremont
Nominations Due: 11th March 2021
Nomination Cost: Free
Pool Entry Cost: $4.50 per student payable to HBF Stadium

Why Diving?
Diving is one of the most popular Olympic sports with athletic spins, twists and turns.
It is a fun and exciting sport, combining jumping, flexibility, strength and speed.
It is a sport for everyone, no matter your skill level or ability, from Primary school age through to
Masters.
Diving will challenge all participants physically as well as mentally, whilst providing them with new
skills and learnings.
Who will be the School Sport WA Champion Primary and Secondary Diving Schools for 2021?

Competition Format
Champion School (Primary) Event
Divisions Year 4 & Under
Year 5
Year 6
To be eligible for the Champion School (Primary) Diving Trophy, a school must enter a
minimum of 3 students across the divisions (Divers must compete in their Year Level).
There is no maximum number of entrants per school.
The Champion School will be decided based on total points awarded for places in each
division: 1st = 10pts, 2nd = 8 pts, 3rd = 6 pts, 4th = 4 pts, 5th = 2 pts, 6th-10th = 1 pt
Only the top 2 student placings per school, per division will have points attributed to their
schools total.
Individual Awards will also be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each division.

Champion School (Secondary) Event


Divisions Junior – Years 7 & 8
Intermediate – Years 9 & 10
Senior – Years 11 & 12
To be eligible for the Champion School (Secondary) Diving Trophy, a school must enter a
minimum of 1 student in each division (students may dive in a higher division if required).
There is no maximum number of entrants per school.
The Champion School will be decided based on total points awarded for places in each
division: 1st = 10pts, 2nd = 8 pts, 3rd = 6 pts, 4th = 4 pts, 5th = 2 pts, 6th-10th = 1 pt
Only the top 2 student placings per school, per division will have points attributed to their

Dive Requirements
All students in all divisions will perform:

Three (3) dives from two (2) groups


1m and/or 3m springboards may be used
No platform events will be run
No repeat dives are allowed
FINA Diving rules and DDs apply
Primary School students may compete Jumps and Entries (DD @ 1.0)

A “List of Dives” form must be filled out prior to the start of the event.

Diving Clinics
A Diving Clinic for all participating students will be provided by Diving WA on the morning of
competition, run by qualified Diving WA coaches.
All students that are new to diving MUST attend this coaching clinic.
DWA Coaches will assist with filling out the “List of Dives” form after the clinic.
Please contact Diving WA directly if you would like to organise a private Diving Clinic/Sessions for
your school.

Duty of Care
Diving WA Coaches will be available to supervise students during the diving clinic and
competitions only.
All participating students need to be appropriately supervised at all other times by
either a school staff member or individual students’ parents or guardians.
