IEC 61641 Asta Test Report 2267

This report details arc fault

containment testing at a value of
690V 65kA achieving all 7
criteria.
In addition to the criteria listed in
IEC 61641, additional ‘special
tests’ were undertaken, these are
detailed in the following slides.
The complete Asta report is
available from the Support
platform.

Compartment above the tested
module not equipped and without
door.

What this means is that the

module tested, a NR DOL 12E,
contain the arc within the 12E
and even though there was no
door present in the compartment
above.
All 7 criteria were passed.

Special test: 1878

Modules 6E/4 removed, device
compartment door open, cable
compartment door open.

Here the 6E/4 modules above

the tested 6E module were
removed, both control
compartment and cable
compartment doors were open.
All 7 criteria were passed.

Here the module above the

tested unit was withdrawn into
the isolated position, protruding
30mm from the assembly and
isolator in the Off position.

All 7 criteria were passed.

This report details arc fault

containment testing at a value of
460V 65kA achieving all 7
criteria.
In addition to the criteria listed in
IEC 61641, additional ‘special
tests’ were undertaken, these are
detailed in the following slides.

This report is the result of a

special requests from an end
customer to prove the arc safety
of the assembly with modules
removed and doors open.

IEC 61641 Asta & IPH test reports

This test report details how MNS & MNS iS exceed the requirements
defined in IEC 61641, and demonstrates that personal and plant
protection is still maintained when:
§ Doors are open
§ Modules are completely removed
§ Modules are located in the isolated position

Testing authority partner IPH – ASTA certification

ABB utilises IPH-Berlin as the primary source for ASTA certification. The IPH
laboratory is ‘ASTA Recognized’ which means that in addition to its national
accreditation, the laboratory is rigorously audited by Intertek every year to
demonstrate technical competence and capability for the scope of work
registered.
As part of the ASTA certification scheme, tests are witnessed by an ‘ASTA
Observer’ supervised from the ASTA Certification Body in the United Kingdom,
on successful completion of which ASTA certificates are issued. These
certificates provide authoritative objective evidence that ABB equipment is
compliant to relevant safety standards and statutory regulatory specifications.
