B. ARCHITECTURE-PRACTICAL TRAINING NORMS 2020-21

1. SCHEDULE OF TRAINING FOR SESSION 2019-20


▪ Commencement of Training- ___ January 2021 (As per LSAD Academic Calendar)

▪ Conclusion of Training- As per LSAD Academic Calendar

▪ Total duration- As per LSAD Academic Calendar or 100 working or 16 weeks, more of the three.

2. GENERAL GUIDELINES
2.1. Choice of firm
The firm under whom you intend to undertake training must have minimum professional
experience of 5 years after getting licence from COA, India.

2.2. Fixing of Training


Students are required to fix-up the training keeping in mind the above said guidelines
regarding the choice of firm & schedule of training.

2.3. Prior approval


Practical Training Committee reserves the right to approve the training office. Committee
may ask the student to change the office/firm if it deems to be necessary.

2.4. Change of office and address


▪ No change is generally permitted; any change if necessitated shall be made only after
stating valid reasons and submitting no objection certificate from your previous
employer to TPC, Architecture.
▪ Prior permission of Practical Training Committee shall be mandatory for any change
of office and change must be made within first five days of calendar month.
▪ In case the student receives the approval letter/confirmation letter from a firm, but
fails to join that, he must inform that firm in writing stating the reasons for not joining
and submit its copy to the TPC, Architecture for record.
▪ Change of address (official or correspondence), should be intimated to the school
within one week of change. (Change of official address means shifting of the office
with whom you are working).
▪ Note: If a student changes the office without the permission of Practical Training
Committee his / her subsequent training reports will not be accepted till he / she gets
the official approval process completed, though the interim progress reports (period
for which student is not having the official approval) will not be accepted and will
not be awarded any marks.

2.5. Schedule for sending progress reports.


2.5.1. You are required to send your joining report and the monthly progress reports via
email (copies enclosed as Appendix I, II & III) to the Training Coordinator and
your mentor respectively as per the following schedule:

2.5.2. All the above reports shall be sent in prescribed Performa only. A confirmation
email will be sent to the student by the mentor when submission in soft copy is
received. If a student has not received confirmation email, he/she must contact
respective mentor via phone regarding the issue.
2.5.3. Any dispute on account of submission of progress report will be considered only
on the production of confirmation email received by the students. So, students are
advised to keep confirmation emails in their inbox.

2.6. Marking of Monthly reports


Monthly progress reports, completed in all respect, shall be received within first 15 days
of the month by your mentors and its report would be uploaded online thereafter in the
end before the viva.

3. WORK TO BE DONE DURING PRACTICAL TRAINING


Students are required to do the following work during training period.

3.1. ARC508- PRACTICAL TRAINING (Work during Office Hours)


▪ Work done during the training period assigned to you by your employer cover under
following types e.g. working on sketch proposals, presentation drawings, submission
drawings/municipal drawing, working/construction drawings, preparing estimates,
project report, models, writing specifications, site visits, etc.

▪ You are required to produce best of your work at the time of external viva-voce in the
form of a spiral bound A3 size report for ETP evaluation. (Each print will be accepted
for evaluation only if signed by the trainee in the appropriate column, and duly attested
by the employer with stamp and signature).

3.1.1. ARC508-Evaluation by Mentor


▪ In addition to the progress reports, you are required to send presentation (PDF
format) of the work done in office by 15th of every month and marks would be
awarded and uploaded online.

3.1.2. ARC508-Evaluation by Employer


▪ During the time of ETP, students are required to produce external marking by
the employer (Refer Appendix IV) in a sealed envelope.

3.2. ARC509- Architecture Portfolio (Work after office Hrs.)


▪ In addition to the regular office work you are required to utilize your time in preparing
your portfolio in both online and offline mode. That should comprise of selected
academic work done by you throughout the degree; including internship period as well.
You are required to submit offline portfolio at the time of external viva-voce in the
form of a spiral bound A3 size (landscape) report for ETP evaluation. Online portfolio
can be prepared on portfolio creating websites, e.g., www.crevado.com and would be
presented during ETP evaluation as well.

▪ ARC509-Evaluation by Mentor You are required to send offline portfolio progress


(PDF format) and online portfolio progress (weblink) by 15th of every month and
marks would be awarded and uploaded online. It is suggested that you initiate both the
portfolios at the earliest and discuss that regularly with your mentor.
