ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Poro MPA Management Council Meeting

On May 6, 2021, the Poro MPA Management Council conducted its regular monthly meeting in Multi-purpose,
Fishermen’s Village. Partcipants followed/observed the minimum health standards in battling the spread of covid-
19.
-Based on the discussion, PMMC shall draft its 2022 Procurement Plan to be reviewed on next regular meeting.
-CENRO delivered nylon, marine epoxy, and thinner to PMMC among others which are includ-ed in Procurement
Plan. However there are missing items, so the body decided to sell the excess of those delivered today (pur-
chased more than the quantity requested) to purchase the missing supplies such as bronze nails and cross joint.
- Bantay dagat training will be conducted in June.
- PSLA will update the list of PSLA members in this quarter.
- PSLA will prepare IRR regarding the admission of a member and collection of membership dues.

Poro MPA Management Council Emergency Meeting


On May 14, 2021, the Poro MPA Management Council conducted its emergency meeting in Multi-purpose,
Fishermen’s Village. Partcipants followed/observed the minimum health standards in battling the spread of covid-
19.
- Mr. Reysam Fontanilla was suspended for two months due to irregularities he did while performing patrolling
duties.
-The body proved the ff:
At 7:30 am, the patrollers of the day, Mr. Reysam Fontanilla and Julyn Cabradilla went to Poro MPA Watchtower
and we used the patrol boat.
-They checked the status of the seven marker buoys before heading to watchtower and all are in good condition.
-We arrived at the Poro MPA watchtower at 8:10 am.
-Reysam Fontailla used the patrol boat to conduct roving in the Poro MPA. Unfortunately, the latter spotted a
violator who is performing “kalaskas” which is considered illegal. So he talked and provided advice to the
-violator to move away from the MPA. The violator gave 4 freshly caught fish. Mr. Reysam said that he received
the fish as proof of the incident.
-At 11:30 am we went to LMPA to coordinate the incident since the alleged violator is a residing in Brgy. Lingsat.
No apprehension was made since the alleged violator was not in the sea anymore.

ISO Partnership Meeting

-On May 18, 2021, the Institute of Social Order, the partner NGO of PPMC in implementing its project plan
conducted its first partnership meeting this year. Mr. Arnel Cabradilla, the Vice-president of PMMC attended the
meeting.

-ISO presented the highlight of Q1 accomplishments and discussed the ways forward or future plan.
The body agreed that the final submission of 1st draft for the renewal of MOA is on July 04, 2021. ISO can cater
a separate meeting per partner to discuss the content of the MOA. There’s no need to prepare a MOA for ISO
and PMMC partnership since the latter is considered as the direct beneficiary of the project.

-Ms. Lastina of PPMC, provided advice to CENRO to prepare a letter to resolve their concerns about the pending
construction of sea wall in front of PMPA watchtower.
-The focused of ISO this year is the Training of Trainers (capacity building) and expanding its project area and
possible engagement in mangrove rehabilitation and solid waste management.

-ISO will continue providing monthly meal allowance to Poro Patrollers, including the patrollers of Lingsat and
Kasay. ISO will provide its assistance on the conduct of Bantay dagat training this second quarter.

Values Formation Training of Trainers

-On May 27, 2021, the Institute of Social Order facilitated the first training of trainers (ToT) for its La Union
Project. Mr.Rizzvill Espina discussed the importance of the ToT and the process of rolling it out during the
monthly meeting. Julyn Cabradilla, Rogelio Abellera, and Jenny Joy Mamuyac were selected as the trainers of
PMMC who attended the activity or training which happened in the Lingsat MPA watchtower.

-The topic was values formation under the Universal Apostolic Preferences.

-3 representatives from each MPA attended the training. The activity went smooth and participants had fun
during interactive activities. The training stated at 9:30 am and ended at 3:40 pm. Participants are looking
forward to facilitate the same training on their respective association, and the next ToT.

Patrolling and Enforcement Operation of Poro Patrollers

The patrolling and enforcement operation of Poro bantay dagat is conducted on a daily basis. The suggested
duty period is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. To date, Poro MPA Management Council has 10 bantay dagat. However,
Mr. Reysam Fontanilla was suspended for two months which was effective on May 14, 2021.
