The Caste system existed in the previous generation because back
then there were two groups of people. First one being the one’s who make money because of their ancestral royalties or family wealth and second one being the one’s who work for the people who make money since they couldn’t earn money due to not having a wealthy background. Slowly, that became a staple amongst the rich since they wanted to stay rich and on top always. They started making stories/tales which supported their selfish thoughts and since the poor weren’t educated, they had to listen to the upper class since if they didn’t, they wouldn’t have gotten their wages for the work they did. It’s a shame to say that although there are highly educated people holding high posts, they still support the cast system and if they don’t support the caste system, they don’t do much constructive contribution towards it anyway. I personally have never faced anything crude related to my caste since my parents and relatives are always low about it. When I ask them what caste I am (I don’t care what caste I am honestly but since I have to have the knowledge of my background and also because some school’s ask for the caste etcetera, I have to ask them), they come close and whisper it to my ear following it with this traditionally off-putting line “no one should know about this”. Back then people weren’t educated about humanity but it’s been 73 years since independence and educated people still support this nonsence. I try my best to convince myself that I don’t belong to any caste but schools and colleges still to this date ask for my caste and other things related to it. If the place I’m going to study is by itself supporting the root cause for poor cruelty and education of the poor, how am I supposed to figure out who I should be fighting for? I’m not saying I’m going through problems because of my caste but even the thought of being questioned for something that absolutely doesn’t make sense since NO-ONE can completely back it up, just makes me question myself if anything will ever change. People say “things change overtime”, but how long will it really take if this topic was focused upon by the people who could make a change and use their post for something useful? Instead of making temples to say “god exists to help”, I’m sure if god really existed, he would want nothing more than world peace and making the world a better place starts from making constructive changes to the present especially children and youth because they are the bright future we need. Educating them not only with basic studies but also with exposure to problems as such so that they know how to back themselves up with a million more people who believe in equal rights. I’d prefer teaching the children more about the present than the past since what happened has happened and not everything that happened before can change what’s happening now or the future.
I hope I’ve delivered my thoughts enough to say that the caste
system is absolutely meaningless and should be destroyed completely as soon as it can because a lot of souls are being destroyed and humiliated and a lot of dreams are being shattered because of something that could’ve been changed a long time ago but no one really cared.
