Q4. Give specific reasons for the following statement. (5)

1. Feather falls at the same rate as a hammer on the Moon. /1

_______________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________
Because there in no air and air resistance force on moon
2: Copper is used in electrical appliances. /1
.
________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________
Copper is good conductor of heat and electricity
3: Large canopy is considered to be good for safe landing of parachute. /1

________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________
Because larger surface area is in contact with air and there is large air resistance force
acting on it.
4: When forces are balanced there is no change in direction. /1

________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________
When forces are balanced net force is zero and no change in direction.
5: Plastic can be used for container for food and drink. /1

________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

It does not react with the food.

Attempt all questions. All questions carry equal marks.

Q.1:
Write down the answers of following questions. /10

(a). Give at least one similarity and one differences between Metals and Non metals.
/2

Similarity: they both are good conductor of heat and electricity.

Difference: metals are shiny and non - metals are dull.

(b). John wants to know how the force of friction will change when he changes the
surface of the board. He spreads a thin layer of cooking oil over the board. Then he
repeats the experiment. What will happen to the angle at which the block slips
(increase or decrease)? Explain your answer. /2
Block will slip more because of the oil layer on the board and friction will
increases.
(c). Explain in a detail how streamlined body of aircraft helps to move fast in an air.
Also write down the name of the forces acting on it.
/2+1

A streamlined body is a shape of body that reduces air resistance when moving.
When the air craft moves it rubs against the air particles. This slows them down to
help lessen this drag we make air craft streamlined. This way air planes quickly and
come together smoothly on the other side.
Air resistance force
