Form groups of five (5) and answer the following the questions. Share your group’s summary to
the rest of the class for 5 minutes.

a. What values are distinctive to our educational institution?

 The institution creates educational objectives that are in line with its stated goals.
The institution understands its core principles and character, as well as its
distinguishing characteristics, its place in the higher education community and
society, and its contribution to the public good. It operates with honesty,
transparency, and independence.

b. What value should be the direction of the management of the institution?

 Both the vision and mission statements differ from the values statement, often
known as the code of ethics. The organization's vision and mission describe where
it is heading (vision) and what it will do to get there (mission) (mission). They
focus the efforts of the organization's employees on achieving a common goal.
The values statement outlines what the company stands for and how employees
are expected to interact with one another, customers and suppliers, and other
stakeholders. It gives the organization a moral compass that drives decision-
making and establishes a baseline for evaluating activities. It also establishes a
criterion by which staff can assess infractions.
 Managers, on the other hand, cannot just make a values statement and expect it to
be followed. A values statement must be reinforced at all levels of the business
and used to guide attitudes and behaviors in order to be effective.
