Ý: Then who are our ancestors, mom?

Mẹ: They are Lạc Long Quân and Âu Cơ. I guess you don’t know then, let me tell you a
story.

GIỚI THIỆU VỀ LẠC LONG QUÂN

Once Upon A Time, Shortly after the creation of the earth and the sky, people settled
in the deltas of the Hồng Hà river in northern Vietnam. Then as now, most people lived by
fishing and harvesting rice. They called their land Lạc Việt

One day, a god by the name of Lạc Long Quân appeared in the country of Lạc Việt.
His father, King Kinh Dương Vương, was a mountain god, and his mother, Long Nữ, was a
water goddess. Not only was Long Nữ a powerful goddess, but she also had the ability to
transform herself into a sea dragon. Her son had inherited these magical powers. He used
his ability to help people in the kingdom, taught them how to build houses, how to look for
food, and fight against wild animals. People of Lạc Việt was extremely grateful for him and
considered him as their savior..=> NAM XUẤT HIỆN

Meanwhile, Âu Cơ was a young, beautiful fairy who lived high in the mountains. She
often visited people and helped them with their farming, how to grow herbs, and how to
improve the life of the people in Lạc Việt. Thanks to being a fairy, she was gifted with the
ability to heal people’s wounds. And with her great knowledge of medicine, she often helped
people who suffered from illness. Everyone loved her for her sympathetic heart as well as
her enthusiasm towards caring about everyone’s life. => LAN XUẤT HIỆN

One day, they met each other. The moment Lạc Long Quân saw the beautiful fairy
standing in front of him, he instantly fell in love with her. Âu Cơ, too, was dazzled by his
strength and kindness. As a result, they got married, surrounded by many people who were
pleased to celebrate this marriage. and together, they have ruled the kingdom of Lạc Việt.=>

soon she had given birth. But no ordinary child was born to the king and the queen. Instead,
Âu cơ gave birth to a pouch containing one hundred eggs, which soon hatched into one
hundred beautiful children. [5-7s] The children grew up inheriting the magical power as
well as their loving personality from both of their parents. (narrator + performance]

The People of Lac Viet had lived happily under the rule of Lạc Long Quân and Âu Cơ
for decades. But as time passed, both of them started to realize that their relationship wasn’t
the same as what they were thinking, which is happy and meaningful. Alternatively, Lạc Long
Quân had spent more time in the ocean while Âu Cơ constantly yearned for the highlands.
Finally, they came to a conclusion.

The couple decided to divide their children, of whom fifty will live with Lạc Long Quân
along the coasts. The other fifty children will be led by Âu Cơ to dwell with her in the
highlands. However, they made a promise that despite distance and separation, they must
look after each other and always be there to lend a hand when someone is in need.

Lạc Long Quân took fifty children to the coast and divided the areas for them to
govern. He taught them the skills of fishing and the art of tattoos to scare off sea creatures
as they dive and hunt for food. He also trained them to plant and harvest rice, as well as how
to cook them in bamboo tubes.

Âu Cơ, who took fifty children to the highlands, also divided her areas for them to
govern. They were taught to live in the jungles and mountains, breed animals, and cultivate
the soil to grow fruit trees for food. They learned to build houses raised on bamboo stilts to
keep themselves safe from wild animals.

The children of Lạc Long Quân and Âu Cơ are believed to be the ancestors of
Vietnam. Today, Vietnamese people call themselves “the children of the Dragon and the
Fairy” to refer to Lạc Long Quân’s lineage from the world of the Dragons and Âu Cơ’s Fairy
Clan from the highlands. Therefore, whichever part of the country one hails from, he belongs
to one origin. Just as Lạc Long Quân and Âu Cơ promised to each other, all Vietnamese
should love, honor, and protect one another. This legend, then, has become the pride and
bond of unity for all Vietnamese.
As an ending to our show , we would like to peform a song called 0DÒNG MÁU LẠC
HỒNG, which represents the unification and the heroic spirit of Vietnamese. Let's give it up
for our singers and dancers.
