ABSTRACT
This abstract contains brief details about the proposal on the project concerned with the
maintenance of the road from Kalanki to Chabahil of the Kathmandu valley. This route is one of
the busiest ones. Over the decade, the condition of this route has been degrading. Therefore, the
necessity to enhance the road is of prime importance. The main objective of submitting this
proposal is to undertake the project and improve the condition of the road. Throughout the
project, road engineers along with skilled manpower and resources will be utilized to a huge
extent. An approximate budget of Rs. 50,000,000 (Five crore rupees) is estimated to be required
for the completion of this project. On the completion of this project, it is expected to facilitate
effective and secure transportation of vehicles and commute of people which has become a major
problem for the public for a significant period due to the current state of the bridge.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
The ringroad including Kalanki-Chabahil is an important route for transportation as there are
many vehicles moving from one place to the other everyday. Over the past years, the condition
of this route has worsened. This has led to the difficulty in daily commute in ringroad. Due to the
critical state of the road, other alternative routes which are longer and hectic have to be used.
Koteshwor, being of the busiest places of Kathmandu has a very heavy traffic every day. The
traffic is very difficult to resolve and control. People have to go through uncontrollable and

Considering the problems, the Ministry of Road and Transport has decided to carry out
maintenance of this route and has recently published a public notice requesting qualified
consultancies to submit their proposal showing their interest to undertake the project on the
maintenance of the road linking from Kalanki-Chabahil. In response to the same public notice,
this proposal has been presented. The estimated budget calculated for the successful

secure and although the urban cities are going under the phase of infrastructural development
with general people feeling the lag of progress in transportation sector, the concerned Ministry
has planned to address the public demands and sentiments by renovating the road within this
year and has published a notice asking the interested consultancies to submit their proposals for

project aims to repair vulnerable and damaged road connecting Kalanki-Chabahi and enhance its
durability.
Specific Objectives
● To implement new technologies to keep the road safe and secured for a long period of
time.
● To provide the local inhabitants of Kathmandu valley with the facility of better
transportation.
During the project, locally available materials and resources will be utilized as far as possible
and skilled, trained and experienced human resources and manpower will be hired to work on the
bridge. In case of insufficiency felt in the local resources, raw materials, laborers and other
necessary equipment, hire and purchase of the necessary resources will be adopted to fulfill the
requirements.

EVALUATION/ FOLLOW-UP
In order to get the progress of the work at the project site evaluated from the concerned
authorities, progress report will be prepared and submitted on a regular basis at the interval of 1
month. On some special occasions, seminars must be organized in order to present the progress
