Double BA Lists

Objective:
•Possible to use separate measurement frequency lists
(BA-lists) in idle mode and in dedicated mode

Active Mode BA-list

• A short list gives better measurement accuracy

(more samples are taken from each neighbor)

• If a long list is used, there is a risk that the MS

wastes time trying to decode the BSIC of an
irrelevant cell

Note! The serving cell BCCH-carrier should

not be included in the active mode BA-list.

Faster Connection at Switch On

IDLE MODE All BCCH frequencies in list:

• Only relevant frequencies
are scanned at switch on.
Different list in different cells:
• An MS may have the option to save
the idle mode BA list when switched
off, which may be used to search
the latest unknown BCCH-carrier at
switch-on
