Subject: June-July 2021 CCSLC® School-Based Assessment (SBA)
Submission of SBA Records and Samples
Ref: 0640 – 5
1. Principals and Teachers are reminded that candidates are eligible to carry forward the
School-Based Assessment (SBA) scores over a two-year period immediately following the first
sitting. Thus, a candidate registering as a Resit for the June 2021 sitting, will be eligible to
carry forward the SBA scores earned at the June 2019 sitting or the June 2020 sitting.
2. Principals and Teachers are reminded that ALL SBA scores must be submitted online
using the e-SBA data capture component of the Online Registration System (ORS). Principals
and teachers must observe the date stipulated by the Local Registrar for the submission of
the ORS file and samples to that Office.
3. The ORS will display all candidates registered for a given subject. Teachers are
required to submit the SBA scores that are awarded for each of the five (5) Modules
assessed. SBA scores for all candidates, for all subjects, must be entered before the SBA file
is exported under the import/export menu. Teachers must report immediately to the
Principal any errors or omissions noted.
SAMPLES
6. Please see the attached correspondence which indicates the Selected Centres that
will be required to submit samples of candidates’ SBA assignments. For French and Spanish,
centres will be required to submit samples of the recordings of oral tasks in addition to the
written assignments. Teachers are therefore reminded to retain recordings for submission
to CXC®, if requested.
For each subject, the samples for the required modules are automatically generated by the
SBA Data Capture Module of the ORS using the following procedure.
(i) the total SBA scores for ALL candidates are arranged in order of performance, from
highest to lowest mark.
(ii) the SBA Data Capture Module of the ORS selects the candidates who gained the
highest mark
middle (median) mark
lowest mark
(iii) the centre submits, by the stipulated deadlines, ONLY the work of students
selected by the SBA Data Capture Module of the ORS, as comprising the sample.
(iv) where the number of candidates is less than three, the projects of ALL candidates
must be submitted.
Please note that the samples selected for the different Modules in each subject do not
have to be the work of the same candidates.
