Planning Before a Task

Most people understand that preparation is key, but whether they know how to
best prepare is another matter. Good preparation involves:

-thinking about similar tasks

-setting clear goals
-working out how long a task may take to complete selecting appropriate strategies
Through carrying this out, individuals are able to allocate their effort more efficiently.

Monitoring During a Task

Students need to assess how they are progressing on a task, to ensure they are
on the right path. This self-monitoring is made easier if they spend time on the
planning stage and know exactly what they want to be working towards.

Reviewing After a Task

After completing a task, students should spend time reflecting on what went well
and what they would do differently next time. This ensures that they are learning
as much as possible from the experience and as such, are developing and
improving.

Set goals for my learning

- As a student, goal setting is very important because it is fundamental to long-

term success. Also, it helps us students to focus on what we want to achieve in
our life.

EVALUATE:

Take actions

- After you setting your goals, it’s time to take actions and do the things that you
want to achieve in life. Taking actions requires you go through numerous trial and
error processes that will help you to eliminate the techniques that don't work for
you.

Monitoring my learning

- As a student, keeping and monitoring records such as calendars, notebooks, or

portfolio will help me document and monitor my works, with this I can see if I
have improvements or things that I should improve.

Evaluate what I have learned

- Evaluating what I have learned is a way of ensuring that I am doing all I can do to
help myself achieve my potential. By regularly evaluating your learning, you are
continually improving your learning experiences.

Extend my learning

- Extending my learning is an important part of my school life; it plays a key role in

extending and understanding the knowledge and skills that are developed in
school. Also, it provides opportunities for us students to consolidate, enrich and
extend our learning.

ASSESSMENT

From the module on Metacognition, I realized that metacognition…

Metacognition refers to “thinking about thinking”. Metacognition is a regulatory system

that helps the person understand and control his or her own cognitive performance. It
also allows people to take charge of their own learning, it involves awareness of how
they learn and evaluation of their learning needs, generating strategies to meet his
needs and implementing the strategies. It's your ability to think about the jobs or
processes you're doing and choose and use the right tactics for your intercultural
encounters.
