Assignment II: Environmental Issues

Dated: 19/12/2020
Marine Water Pollution
Pakistan has different environmental issues and it is trying to overcome them. But
most of the environmental issues are making human lives are to live on earth. One
of the most concerned environmental issue of Pakistan is marine water pollution.
Pakistan has signed different treaties in order to protect its environment and it is
trying its best to protect them.

Pakistan has different environmental issues one of them is marine water pollution.
The beautiful oceans of Pakistan are being polluted by dumbing the waste which
includes plastic, bottles, and hospital waste into the oceans. Which not only change
the shape of water but also impact the life of the living beings in it. The sea view of
Karachi, which attracts most of the tourists, is now being polluted by these wastes.

One of the famous ship breaking zone of world is Gadani located in industrial zone
of Balochistan where heavy metals are discharge and impurities of these metals are
thrown into sea. They do not have proper waste management system which cause
the overall marine environment to be destroyed. These metal wastes are thrown
into the sea and after that the fish and marine living eat as food. Which not only
cause them but as a food cycle people also eat these fish which can make their
immune system worsen.

Dumping harmful waste in sea such as industrial waste and hospital wastes is
highly effecting the economic condition of fishing communities. One of the
research by WWF, 65% of wastes in the coastal region consist of plastic bags,
bottles and wrappers. These make fish life hard to live in the beautiful oceans.
Solution
Government of Pakistan must follow the treaty of London convention in order to
protect their marine water pollution. It should not be allowing the waste to be
dumped into the oceans rather proper dumping plant need to be installed in
industrial zones. Different international standards to be followed for wastes. Heavy
penalty system by government should be introduced who are not abiding the laws
for dumping wastes.
Citizens of Pakistan should also be taking responsibilities to clean their
environments. They should be demanding proper waste system so that the marine
water cannot be polluted.
