wires e@.eying soft-annealed ccpper or ccpper clad aluminum conductors,
1350 aluminum and 8000 -eeries aluminum allays comluctors, insulated with rubber,
thernr@aetic, cross-linked-polyethylene, ethyl~e prqylene rubber,

3.1 Cable ad wire coveredby this specificationsha3.1conformto

3.2 Fire and casualtyhazards.

3.2.1Each contractor shall sutdnit to the contracting agency prcof


that the cable or wire he prqcses to supply under this speci fi@.tion
conform to the requirements of the applicableUL Standard. The
label,or listingwith re-examination, of the UL may be acceptedas
evidencethat the cable or wire conformsto the requirements.

3.2.2 In lieu of the UL label,or listingwith re-examination,


the
contractorshall submit independent prcof, satisfactoq to the
contracting agency,that the cableor wire conformsto the applicable
requirements of the publishedstardardsincluiirqmethcdsof testa
of the applicableIJLStandard.

3.3 Color code.

4. QUALITYASSURANCEPRQJISIOFS

4.1 Rex nsibilitvfor inspec tion. Unless,otherwiaeapecified in


the contractor purchaseorder, the contractoris responsiblefor
the performanceof all inspectionrequirementsas specifiedherein.
Except as otherwiseapecified in the contractor purchaaeorder, the
ccmtractormsy use his or any other facilitiessuitablefor the
performanceof the inspectionrequirementsspecifiedherein,unless
disapprovedby the government. Tne governmentreservesthe right to
performany of the inspectionsset forth in the specificationwhere
such inspections are deemednecessaryto assuresuppliesand aervices
conformto prescribedrequirements.

4.1.1Unless otherwisespecified,inspections by the supplier~Y


be performd on a statisticalor productionlot basis to assure that
the qualityof manufactureis equal to the standardsset by UL.
(See6.2).

4.2 %molinq, insuection,and tests. Unlessotherwisespecifiedin

5.1.1 LevelA.

5.1.1.1 Coils (~ sizes 20 to 8). Cable ad wire in the length

Alternatively,the reelsmy be packagedin a rourxl, fornPfitting,

thicknessof 0.006 inches. A @ hole shallbe providedto dispense
the tire.

coiled in lengths specified (see 6 .1), and secured with twine.

o 5.1.1.4 Reels. Cable ad wire shall& packagedon nonreturnable


wocd or metal reelsdesignedwith strongflangesof a diameterthat will
protectthe cable or wire duringshipmentor storage. After the cable
or wire has been wound on the reel, it shallbe coveredwith a full
wrap of water-proofad flexible barriermaterialconformingto
PPP-B-1055. The wrap shall extendbetweenthe fI.angee ati shall be
securedin place with a mininumof tw metal or nm-metallic straps.

5.1.2 LevelB. ‘Rleroils ad reelsshall be packagedas specified


in 5.1.1 exceptthat the fiberboardboxes,when utilizedshallconform
to PPP-B-636,class danesticad sealingof the box is not required.
