I have chosen a text from a well-known book, Vehicle and Automotive Engineering
by Jarmai, Karoly, Bollo, Betti (Eds.), which is a true technical text from my field of study.
I truly believe that society needs engineers that can and will change the world.
Studying engineering has always appealed to me, mainly because it relies heavily on problem
solving and combines my two favourite subjects, Maths and Science..
So, the main reason I chose this book is that I’ve always wanted to have some sort of
impact on the world and engineering seemed like the best tool with which I could affect
genuine change in people’s lives.
In my opinion, no matter how busy your schedule is, sharpening your skills by reading
is one of the easiest ways to learn about mechanical engineering, especialy about vehicle
engineering. Mechanical engineering skills are transferable, meaning they will be useful
across a variety of industries and help you to become more employable.
Secondly, the paper deals with further development of an AGV( Automated Guided
Vehicle), its navigation method, and programming of an AGV, things which I am really
interesed in.
Taking into consideration that mechanical engineering is a broad field, which has more
impact on people’s daily lives, I must say that the information provided by this amazing book,
helps me to realise that nowadays, the automation of industrial devices becomes very
important. These devices can increse the productivity, decrease the costs and human fault.
However, the automation of human controlled devices is not simple. Therefore
researching of this problem is inevitable important!
In conclusion, by fulfilling this task (homework) - reading a technical text about
mechanical engineering, I understood that although engineering is a science, it can also
require a high level of creativity. As a mechanical engineer, you will learn how not to rely on
the way things have been done before, and to think independently so that you can create new
solutions to problems.
