 Export Sales
For the week ending May 6, unshipped balances of wheat, corn, and soybeans totaled
30.0 mmts. This was 7% lower than last week, but 33% higher than the same time last
year.
- Net corn export sales were down 0.113 mmts, off significantly from the past week.
- Net soybean export sales were 0.094 mmts, down 43% from the previous week.
- Net weekly wheat export sales were 0.030 mmts, down significantly from the
previous week.

As of the 13th of May, the rate for shipping a metric ton (mt) of grain from the U.S. Gulf
to Japan was $67.00. This was 3% more than the previous week. The rate from PNW to Japan was $39.50 per mt, 4% more than the
previous week.

Pacific Northwest Drives Increase in Grain Inspections


For the week ending the 13th of May, total inspections of grain (corn,
wheat, and soybeans) for export from all major U.S. export regions
totaled 2.9 mmts.
Total grain inspections were up 13% from the previous week, up 37%
from last year, and up 19% from the 3-year average.
Inspections increased for each of the three major grains, with wheat up
17%, corn up 10%, and soybeans up 27% from the previous week.
The increase in inspections was driven by a 41% jump in Pacific
Northwest (PNW) grain inspections. Mississippi Gulf inspections
increased 1% for the same period.
Compared to last year, year-to-date total grain inspections are up 39%.

 Wheat Export Shipments & Sales
Net sales of 121,000 mts for 2020/2021 were
up noticeably from the previous week and up
21% from the prior 4-week average. Increases
primarily for Indonesia (66,500 mts, including
6,500 mts switched from Vietnam), Nigeria
(60,100 mts, including 60,000 mts switched
from unknown destinations and decreases of
2,300 mts), Mexico (54,500 mts, including
decreases of 400 mts), Nicaragua (30,000 mts,
switched from unknown destinations), and the
Dominican Republic (15,300 mts, including
14,600 mts switched from unknown
destinations), were offset by reductions
primarily for unknown destinations (118,900
mts). For 2021/2022, net sales of 317,700 mts
were primarily for unknown destinations
(123,300 mts), Japan (60,800 mts), Mexico
(39,600 mts), the Philippines (33,000 mts), and
Taiwan (30,300 mts).
Exports of 568,600 mts were up 9% from the
previous week and 3% from the prior 4-week
average. The destinations were primarily to
the Philippines (110,900 mts), Nigeria (106,100
mts), China (68,200 mts), South Korea (56,900
mts), and Japan (55,200 mts).
Optional Origin Sales: For 2020/2021, the
current outstanding balance of 63,900 mts is
for Spain.

 Rice Export Shipments & Sales


Net sales of 96,200 mts for 2020/2021 were up noticeably from the previous week and
up 98% from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for Mexico (42,300
mts), Venezuela (28,500 mts), Haiti (18,200 mts), Canada (3,400 mts), and Saudi
Arabia (1,800 mts). Total net sales for 2021/22, of 700 mts were for Guatemala.
Exports of 69,400 mts were up noticeably from the previous week, but down 15% from
the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Venezuela (56,300 mts),
South Korea (3,100 mts), Mexico (2,500 mts), Canada (2,200 mts), and Japan (1,200
mts).
Exports for Own Account: For 2020/2021, new exports for own account totaling 100
mts were for Canada. The current exports for own account outstanding balance is 100
mts, all Canada.

 Barley Export Shipments & Sales
No net sales were reported for the week. Exports of 600 mts were up 68% from the
previous week and 40% from the prior 4-week average. The destination was to South
Korea.

 Corn Export Shipments & Sales
Net sales of 277,600 mts for 2020/2021 were
down noticeably from the previous week, but
up 19% from the prior 4-week average.
Increases primarily for Mexico (294,100 mts,
including 24,000 mts switched from unknown
destinations and decreases of 12,600 mts),
Japan (65,300 mts, including 7,400 mts
switched from unknown destinations and
decreases of 4,600 mts), South Korea (64,600
mts, including 68,000 mts switched from
unknown destinations and decreases of 3,400
mts), Venezuela (41,500 mts, including 16,500
mts switched from unknown destinations), and
Panama (21,300 mts), were offset by
reductions primarily for unknown destinations
(195,300 mts). For 2021/2022, net sales of
4,061,800 mts primarily for China (3,740,000
mts) and Mexico (199,800 mts), were offset by
reductions for Nicaragua (31,200 mts).
Exports of 2,239,900 mts--a marketing-year
high-- were up 45% from the previous week
and 23% from the prior 4-week average. The
destinations were primarily to China (1,009,700
mts), Mexico (467,100 mts), Japan (310,900
mts), Colombia (113,000 mts), and Israel
(111,200 mts).
Optional Origin Sales: For 2020/2021, the
current outstanding balance of 268,500 mts is
for unknown destinations (189,500 mts) and
South Korea (79,000 mts).
Late Reporting: For 2020/2021, exports totaling 16,500 mts of corn were reported late
to Venezuela.

 Grain Sorghum Export Shipments & Sales


Net sales of 119,800 mts for 2020/2021 were up 69% from the previous week and up
noticeably from the prior 4-week average. Increases were for China (119,800 mts,
including decreases of 5,200 mts). Total net sales for 2021/2022, of 53,000 mts were
for China.

Exports of 59,800 mts were down 68% from the previous week and 72% from the prior
4-week average. The destination was to China.

 Soybeans, Oil & Meal Export Shipments & Sales
Soybeans: Net sales of 84,200 mts for 2020/2021 were
down 11% from the previous week and 45% from the
prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for Japan
(57,800 mts, including 42,300 mts switched from
unknown destinations and decreases of 1,300 mts),
Egypt (55,000 mts, including 50,000 mts switched from
unknown destinations), South Korea (25,800 mts,
including 25,000 mts switched from unknown
destinations), Vietnam (12,600 mts, including decreases
of 100 mts), and Canada (12,200 mts), were offset by
reductions primarily for unknown destinations (101,300
mts). For 2021/2022, net sales of 96,000 mts were
primarily for Mexico (47,500 mts) and unknown
destinations (47,500 mts).
Exports of 335,600 mts were up 18% from the previous
week and 20% from the prior 4-week average. The
destinations were primarily to Mexico (103,400 mts),
Japan (67,600 mts), Egypt (55,000 mts), Indonesia
(30,900 mts), and South Korea (26,000 mts).
Exports for Own Account: For 2020/2021, the current
exports for own account outstanding balance is 5,800
mts, all Canada.
Late Reporting: For 2020/2021, exports totaling 6,000 mts
of soybeans were reported late to Venezuela.

Soybean Oil: Net sales reductions of 4,500 mts for Exports of 96,200 mts were down 51% from the previous week and from the prior 4-
2020/2021--a marketing year low-- were down noticeably from the previous week and week average. The destinations were primarily to Mexico (28,100 mts), Canada
from the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for Canada (800 mts) and Mexico (18,500 mts), Guatemala (14,400 mts), Morocco (6,500 mts), and Honduras (5,100
(100 mts), were more than offset by reductions for Nicaragua (2,200 mts), El Salvador mts).

Exports of 14,200 mts were up noticeably from the previous week and up 25% from
the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Guatemala (8,000 mts)
and Venezuela (5,000 mts)..

Soybean Cake and Meal: Net sales of 189,400 mts for 2020/2021 were up
noticeably from the previous week and up 34% from the prior 4-week average.
Increases primarily for Canada (41,700 mts, including decreases of 600 mts), Ecuador
(30,000 mts), Morocco (25,000 mts), Guatemala (23,900 mts, including decreases of
800 mts), and Mexico (21,600 mts, including decreases of 100 mts), were offset by
reductions primarily for Nicaragua (5,000 mts) and Belgium (800 mts). For 2021/2022,
net sales of 77,600 mts were for Mexico (24,900 mts), Honduras (15,100 mts), El
Salvador (14,600 mts), Guatemala (14,000 mts), and Costa Rica (9,000 mts).

 Barge Movements For the week ending the 15th of May, 535 grain barges moved down river, 98 barges
fewer than the previous week. There were 804 grain barges unloaded in New Orleans,
5% more than the previous week.

For the week ending the 15th of May, barge grain movements totaled 870,175 tons.
This was 13% less than the previous week and 10% more than the same period last
year.

 Rail Movements Average May shuttle secondary railcar bids/offers (per car) were $121 below tariff for
the week ending May 13. This was $25 less than last week and $23 more than this
week last year. There were no non-shuttle bids/offers this week.

U.S. Class I railroads originated 25,211 grain carloads during the week ending the 8th
of May. This was a 10% decrease from the previous week, 17% more than last year,
and 7% more than the 3-year average.

 Diesel Fuel Prices

Fuel For the week ending the 17th of May, the U.S. average diesel fuel price increased
6.3 cents from the previous week to $3.249/ gallon, 86.3 cents above the same week
last year.
