Unstable/sick:
1. IV access

2. Normal saline

3. Cardiac monitoring

4. BP monitoring

5. Pulse oximetry q1hour

6. Oxygen therapy

7. Vital signs q1 hour

8. Others to consider:

a. EKG/troponin

b. Blood glucose

c. Neuro checks

d. Central line

9. Targeted physical exam

Admi ng to hospital:
1. Ac vity order

2. Diet order

3. DVT ppx order

5. Rou ne labs (BMP, CBC q24hours)

Sending to surgery:
1. Consult appropriate surgical service

2. Make pa ent NPO

3. Get type and screen

4. Get coags

5. Administer abx (cefazolin or ce riaxone/Flagyl if abdominal pathology)

6. Place a Foley with urine output checks q8 hours

Counsel appropriately during the nal 2 minutes
