The award was given to him for his ideal of cultivating crops with irrigation

savings. The Delhi-based ICID is made up of technicians and scientists from the

field of irrigation. Operating internationally, the organization promotes rainfed
farmers on water management and conservation in agriculture.

Shivshankar Reddy received the award for achieving the highest yields by cultivating pomegranate and
grape crops with the use of fertilizers through drip and drip irrigation. ICID has announced a total of
four awards, with only Shivshankar Reddy being selected from India. The other three awards went
to Iran.
