Materials SPECIAL NOTES

Seamless Color Change
• Sewing needle
The body of one of these dolls requires

• A pair of scissors
While working on the last stitch of the
round, just before you make the color
change, make a single crochet stitch as
usual by inserting hook in the stitch and

Instructions
HEAD
Start with light brown yarn.
Rnd 1: With light brown yarn, 8 sc in a magic ring.

Rnd 2: inc X 8. [16]
Rnd 3: (sc, inc) X 8. [24]
Rnd 4: (sc 2, inc) X 8. [32]
Rnd 5: (sc 3, inc) X 8. [40]
Rnd 6: (sc 4, inc) X 8. [48]
Rnd 7-15: sc around. [48]
Rnd 16: (sc 4, dec) X 8. [40]
Rnd 17: (sc 3, dec) X 8. [32]
Rnd 18: (sc 2, dec) X 8. [24]
Rnd 19: (sc, dec) X 8. [16]
Insert eyes: Insert 8mm eyes between Rnd 12 and
13, 8 stitches apart.
Rnd 20: (sc 2, dec) X 4. [12]
Fasten off and weave in the yarn end. Stuff the
head firmly with polyester fiberfill.
Shape face: Thread a yarn needle with light brown
yarn. Insert needle from the opening at the base
of the head, bring it out from Point A next to the
eye [Pic 1]. Push the needle back in from Point B
and out from Point C close to the next eye [Pic 2].
Push it in from Point D, bringing it out from Point
A again [Pic 3]. Gently squish the eyes together
with your fingers and carefully pull the yarn to

bring the eyes closer. While holding this shape,
push the needle back in from Point B and out from
Point C [Pic 4]. Push it in from Point D, and bring it
out from the opening at the base of the head [Pic
5]. Gently pull both the yarn ends and tie them
together to hold the shape [Pic 6]. Clip off excess
yarn and push the yarn ends inside the head.
Embroider eye details: Thread a yarn needle with
white yarn. Insert needle from the opening at the
base of the head, bring it out from Point E below
the eye [Pic 7]. Push it back in from Point F next to
the top outside corner of the eye [Pic 8] and bring
it out from the opening at the base of the head.
Tie the yarn ends together. Clip off excess yarn and
push the yarn ends inside the head. Repeat on the
other eye. Make sure to keep these entry and exit
points for the needle as close to the edge of the
eye as possible.
FLEECE CAP
Start with ivory yarn.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring. [6]
Rnd 2: (4-dc bobble, hdc) in each of the 6 st. [12]
Rnd 3: sc inc X 12. [24]
Rnd 4: (4-dc bobble, hdc) X 12. [24]
Rnd 5: (sc, inc) X 12. [36]

Flatten the open end and sew it closed. Sew the

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. No need to To even out the base of the semi-circle, ch 1 and

BACKPACK
Body
Ch 8 with dark pink/ yellow yarn.
Rnd 1: Starting from the second ch from the hook,
sc 6, 3 sc in the last ch. Continue working on the
opposite side of the foundation ch. Sc 4, inc X 2. [17]
Rnd 2: inc, sc 5, inc X 3, sc 6, inc X 2. [23]
Rnd 3: bpsc around. [23]
Rnd 4-11: sc around. [23]
Fasten off. Weave in the yarn ends.
Lid
Make with dark brown/ purple yarn.
Shoulder Straps
Make 28 chainless foundation stitches with dark
brown/ purple yarn.
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
Assemble backpack: Hold the base of the lid
against the open end of the body and sew them
together [Pic 17].
Sew the middle section of the strap on the top
center of the backpack and the ends of the strap
on its base [Pic 18].
Sew 6mm round button in aqua green/ yellow at
the front of the bag at Rnd 7. Slip the ch-3 hole of
the lid over the button.
