Abstract
This article explores the gravitational causes for the Cyclone
Fani of 2nd May ,2019 that is set to ravage coastal South-East
India and the past Hurricanes Harvey and Irma and the
Southasian floods of 2017.
It also shows that astronomical/astrological calculations in the
nirayana nakshatra system based on ayanamsa values given
by various Indian scholars like Lahiri,Raman,Krishnamurthi
etc.are bound to result in erroneous predictions as vedic
astronomy/astrology was tropical and did not recognise the
precession of the equinox for calculation of the rasis(signs) and
nakshatras(luni-solar arcs of time).In the vedic period
astronomy was the tool for astrological predictions. The transit
result of the luminaries and planets in the nakshatras
cannot be reproduced by incorporating the ayanamsa value to
a so called first point of Aries in the nirayana
system.Planetary transit results vary every moment,day
and year.The weather and the seasons depends on
lunisolar transits against the planets.When incorporating
the Lahiri ayanamsa, the sun on 9th-Sept will be at 23 deg
Leo,whereas in the Sayana/Tropical system it is at 17 deg
Virgo,making a difference of about 24 degrees ,changing
the nakshatras,signs and giving wrong conclusions.Hence
the so-called “vedic nirayana” system of astronomy/
astrology has no scientific basis and the correct system
of calculations and prediction is the “vedic sayana”
system,as was practised in ancient India from Harappan
times.

Cyclone Fani: Coastal Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are on high alert.
NEW DELHI: 

Cyclone Fani, which is approaching the Odisha coast, has turned into an "extremely
severe cyclonic" storm, the Navy said late last night. The state has been put on  a
"yellow alert" by the weather department. The Election Commission has lifted the
model code of conduct in the coastal districts of the state to ensure that the state is
prepared to face Fani. The Navy, the National Disaster Response Force and the
Coast Guard are on high alert. The Met department has issued a "yellow warning" for
the Odisha coast predicting heavy to very heavy rain in several areas. Tamil Nadu
and Andhra Pradesh too are on high alert. Odisha's 879 multipurpose cyclone
shelters have been kept ready. The shelters can accommodate about one million
people during cyclones and floods.

Cyclone Fani LIVE updates: Indian Navy deploys seven warships in Bay of Bengal; helicopters kept
on standby.

Cyclone Fani will make a landfall around Puri during forenoon on 3 May with a speed of 170-180
kmph gusting to 200 kmph. Landing process is likely to continue till afternoon, the NDMA said
through a Twitter post.

The storm is likely to enter West Bengal as a ‘Severe Cyclonic Storm’ of 90-100 kmph gusting to
115 kmph. It is likely to emerge into Bangladesh on the evening of 4 May evening as a ‘Cyclonic
Storm’ with a wind speed 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph.

Massive evacuation on in Odisha as cyclone Fani nears coast

A massive exodus was under way in coastal Odisha as hundreds of thousands of people left their
homes in probably the largest evacuation ahead of the Cyclone Fani. Over 11.5 lakh people in
vulnerable, low lying areas of 13 districts are being shifted to cyclone shelters and other safe
houses, in arguably the largest evacuation ever before an impending natural calamity, officials
told PTI.

Nearly 3.5 lakh people have already been evacuated to safety, official sources said. "Evacuation is
in progress on a war-footing. Around 30 per cent of the targeted people have so far been moved
to safe places," said a senior official.

Arrangements have been made to start free kitchens to provide cooked food to the evacuees.
Over one lakh dry food packets have been kept ready for air dropping, Special Relief .

Around 102 trains cancelled in view of Cyclone Fani.

The Railways said around 102 trains have been cancelled in the last two days in view of Cyclone
Fani. 81 trains were cancelled till Wednesday. 

Commissioner (SRC) BP Sethi said.

Cyclone Fani latest update from West Bengal

No flight will depart or arrive at Kolkata airport between 9.30 pm on 3 May and 6 pm on 4 May,
reported PTI.

Hurricane Harvey was a major hurricane which struck

the Houston and southeast Texas area in August(13-28) 2017.
On August 13,the Moon (4 deg,Tau;nakshatra lord -Mars )was
in Taurus(whose lord Venus was in Cancer) forming square
aspect to the Sun(21 deg Leo,Nakshatra lord Moon),Mars(15
deg, Leo;nakshatra lord Moon) and Rahu(24
deg,Leo;nakshatra lord Moon) in Leo.
In a four-day period(Sun crossing Rahu in nakshatra of
Moon) , many affected areas received more than 40 inches
(1,000 mm) of rain as the system meandered over eastern
Texas and adjacent waters, causing catastrophic flooding. With
peak accumulations of 51.88 in (1,318 mm), Harvey was
the wettest tropical cyclone on record in the contiguous United
States. The resulting floods inundated hundreds of thousands
of homes, displaced more than 30,000 people, and prompted
more than 17,000 rescues.
Harvey was the first Category 3 hurricane to make landfall in
the United States since Wilma in 2005, ending a record 12-year
period in which no storms of such severity made landfall. The
first significant hurricane of the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season,
and the eighth named storm, Harvey developed from a tropical
wave to the east of the Lesser Antilles, reaching tropical
storm status on August 17(Moon+ Venus in Cancer.Sun –Leo-
25-deg,Mars-Leo-18-deg,Rah-Leo-24-deg;nakshatra of Moon).
It crossed the Windward Islands on the following day, passing
just south of Barbados, and later near Saint Vincent. Due to
moderate wind shear, Harvey weakened over Caribbean Sea,
and early on August 19 abated into a tropical wave north
of Colombia. As it continued west-northwestward across the
Caribbean and the Yucatán Peninsula, however, on August 23
it redeveloped over the Bay of Campeche, and on August 24
first regained tropical storm and then hurricane status later that
day. This intensification phase stalled slightly overnight from
August 24–25, as the storm moved northwest, but soon
resumed strengthening and attained Category 4 intensity later
that day. Hours later, Harvey made landfall at peak intensity
near Rockport, Texas.
Harvey caused at least 71 confirmed deaths; 1 in Guyana, and
70 in the United States. Catastrophic inland flooding is ongoing
in the Greater Houston metropolitan area. FEMA director Brock
Long called Harvey the worst disaster in Texas history, and
expected the recovery to take many years. Economic losses
are preliminarily estimated at between $70 to $200 billion, with
a large portion of the losses sustained by uninsured
homeowners

Hurricane Irma(Florida-9-Sept-2017;Moon -4-deg –Taur in

slowed to a category three storm as it crashed across Cuba’s
northern coast, lashing towns with 125mph winds and flooding them
with intense surges. As of midday local time, the storm was about 170 miles
away from Florida, and expected to regain category four intensity.

 More than seven million people were ordered to flee from

their homes in several states, including nearly a third of
Florida’s population. More than 50,000 people are in about 300
shelters around the state, counties enacted curfews, and power
providers already began to struggle with demand.

 Florida prepared for what its governor called “the most

catastrophic storm the state has ever seen”. Irma is forecast to
make landfall on the Florida Keys early Sunday morning and then to
pummel south-west Florida on a 30-hour journey northward.

 In Florida’s south-west, officials expect storm surges as

high as 15ft. “Fifteen feet is devastating and will cover your house,”
governor Rick Scott said. “Do not think the storm is over when the
wind slows down. The storm surge will rush in and it could kill you.”
Large swaths of Florida were given tornado warnings, and the
National Weather Service’s Key West station delivered a dire
warning: “THIS IS AS REAL AS IT GETS. NOWHERE IN THE
FLORIDA KEYS WILL BE SAFE.”

 Twenty-five people have been confirmed killed around the

Caribbean, including 11 people on French St Martin and St Barts,
four in the US Virgin Islands, three on Puerto Rico, two on Dutch St
Maarten, one person in Anguilla and a two year old in Barbuda.

 Category-four hurricane Jose threatened landfall in the

eastern Caribbean, complicating relief efforts for islands that have
only just emerged from Irma’s winds. On Barbuda, where the prime
minister estimated 90% of buildings were destroyed, a mandatory
evacuation moved people to the larger sister island of Antigua.

 Another storm, Katia, was downgraded to a tropical

depression as it pushed onto land from Mexico’s Gulf coast. Two
people were killed in a mudslide in Veracruz, according to the AP.

Why did the monsoon season become so devastating this

time? Why this earthquake in Mexico?
Vedic seasonal nakshatras(27 in number) do not refer to any
particular star as misunderstood by many writers,rather they
refer to 13deg 20 min arc of the ecliptic beginning with the
vernal equinox.Thus a sign is 30 deg,nakshatra is 13 deg 20
min and nakshatra pada is 3 deg 20 min duration.The first

seasonal sign Aja(Mesha-Aries-the ram ) corresponds to

aga(the Sun,jar,snake)/usha(dawn) of the day. The number of
nakshatras reflects the number of days in a sidereal
month (modern value: 27.32 days), being the arc traversed by
the Moon in about one day. Each nakshatra is further
subdivided into four padas(quarters). These play a significant
role in popular Hindu astrology.The nakshatras of traditional
Indian astronomy are based on a list of 28 asterisms found in
the Atharvaveda (AVŚ 19.7) and the Shatapatha
Brahmana (II.1.2). The first  astronomical  text that lists them is
the Vedanga Jyotisha.
According to sage Parasara,the nakshatras begin with
Krittika(other names like Agni nakshatra,Urja nakshatra etc.
indicates sunrise,vernal equinox etc.),but according to
Varahamihira,the nakshatras begin with Asvini.The difference is
due to the fact that at the time of Varahamihira, the vernal
equinox coincided with the star Beta Arietis,due to the
precession of the equinoxes.In other words the nakshatra
Krittika coincided with the tara(star) Asvini(Beta Arietis) at this
time.It also means that Krittika nakshatra is not the star Pleides
as commonly understood.In fact a month is also called a
nakshatra with reference to the fullmoon nakshatra as
Visakha(Aries),Asvina(Virgo) etc.

The nakshatra lordships were decided by energy level divisions
of the day and year ,by imposing the day on the year.Jupiter,
Venus, Moon and Sun are considered as benefic when
unafflicted by the malefics Saturn,Rahu and Mars.
By assessing the performance of the south west monsoon over
Kerala(India) from 01-June every year we can see that the
monsoon reaches Kerala when the Sun enters Pushya-the
nakshatra of Saturn(the cold planet) in Gemini.Kataka(Cancer-
watery sign) gives good rains normally every year.The
nakshatra of Pūrva Phalgunī (Pubbha) ruled by Venus brought
copious rains this year(2017) also.
The nakshatra of Uttara Phalguni ruled by the Sun(heat) in Leo
from 23 rd July ,2017 resulted in a dry spell.
The entry of the sun into the sign Leo,and the nakshatra of the
sun resulted in dry weather in 2018 also.The passage in the
sub of ketu in the asterism of venus resulted in lower rains.
The floods began when the Sun was in the nakshatra of Citra
and Swati whose lords Mars and Rahu were associated with
Venus in Leo. Houston and Mumbai are ruled by Leo.The
association of the malefic Mars(fire,chemicals,water,war) and
Rahu(air) with Venus(water), caused the storm,floods and
damages by chemicals as the Sun moved in the nakshatras of
Mars and Rahu.The Doklam stand off between India and China
on the border was also under the influence of this
Mars/Venus/Rahu transit in Cancer and Leo.
This shows that the vedic people developed the nakshatra
system based on seasonal intervals using the tropical zodiac
and the use of the so called ayanamsa to account for the
precession of the equinox by the present day Indian
astronomers and astrologers is based on factual
inaccuracies.For proper predictive results
the zodiacal signs has to begin at the vernal equinox(vishuvat)
with Aries(Aja/aga/usha) as the first rasi(sign,cf.rajya-desa-
nation) and Krittika as the first nakshatra.Miina(Pisces ,
nayana-aksha-eye,ahas-day;na-yama→yamuna→

nayana→miina) is the last(twelfth) sign and Bharani(yoni

/yama/ma/nripa-king/bearer , , , ) is the last

(twenty seventh) nakshatra.
 In Kerala the solar nakshatras(naga-sun,satra-house,sarat-
year) are called njattuvelas(solar intervals;njar-sun,vela-
interval,vara-weekday,pada-foot,quarter) itself,indicating this
seasonal cycle.
The vedic nakshatras were a tool of remarkable accuracy for
predictions of weather and the seasons .The Harappans made
use of them as detailed by Parasara,Varahamihira etc.in their
astronomical/astrological treatises(Hora Sastra).

Confirmation
On 16th,September,2017,the moon entered Leo and was
lodged with Venus and Rahu.Lord of Leo,the Sun is in
Virgo(Kanya-Kumari),and in the nakshatra of Jupiter,placed in
Libra ruled by Venus.Now, heavy rains and wind lashed Kerala
again indicating the influence of Venus and Rahu on the
weather/climate.Meteorologists consider this to be the result of
depressions.
