 How about you, may I know your name?
 Great! Nice to meet you (mention student’s name) (If student has some error in how they say their response correct them right away)
 How are you today? (Make the student feel comfortable with you by asking them how they are doing, this will make them encourage to
talk more because you are establishing rapport with them)
Note:
 If you can sense that the student is capable of expressing his or herself ask 1 or 2 more questions such as, can you give a little introduction
of yourself?
 This will give you an idea how to connect with them by knowing some information about themselves.
 Why do you want to study/improve your English communication skills?
Teacher’s Guide:

o If student can answer correctly, give praises such as Yehey! Great! Good Job! This will make them feel more comfortable to talk and share their
ideas.
o If student cannot answer for first attempt say, Try again! One more try! Don’t give answer immediately, let them do the talking and elicit idea from
them, this is how we can evaluate their Oral English communication skill and if correction is needed in every sentence they would be making
correct them right away.
 Now let us read the words below each picture.
o If you think they are capable of reading let them read it and give corrections later, if they find it difficult to even read it, read it first let them follow
after you.
 Now let us answer the question (circle the question, you can either read it or let them read it).
o Let them answer first the question on their own way. Praise student after giving their answer.
o If the answer where not grammatically correct, give the correction right away on how they should be answering the question grammatically correct
and with sentence agreement.

Teacher’s Guide:
Say:
 Now that you have learned new words and expressions already, let us try to use those words and expressions in answering the following questions in
this page.
o Allow students to have free talk in this part but teach them how to correctly give their responses with each question, encourage to follow the
format of ANSWER + EXPLANATION + CONCLUSION in a simplest manner. This will give them a glimpse of how they will be taught on their
grammar skills.
o Always remind the student of the correct way of giving first sentence in answering question. For example if student will be asked of question
such as “What is your name?” the answer should be “My name is _______________”. This will be the simplest example that we could give to
our student for them to understand the format of answering question accurately.
