Preface
This document describes the restrictions, known issues, and workarounds for the
EcoStruxure™ Foxboro™ SCADA 3.4 software packages of the EcoStruxure™
Foxboro™ process automation system.
Restrictions are temporary limitations put in place to address incomplete
functionalities or features in the product. These helps in preventing users from
accessing or generating corrupt data, which could result in abnormal installation or
termination of the Foxboro Software component.
Known issues represent temporary deficiencies in the product. Frequently, these
result from incomplete functionalities of the product.
Workarounds provide a means of bypassing known issues, enabling the user to
perform an operation that would otherwise be prohibited or difficult to execute.
This document provides the path and examples from the Windows Server 2012 R2
Standard SP1 and Windows Server 2016 Standard operating systems.

Foxboro SCADA software is based on the ArchestrA™ architecture and incorporates
several Wonderware™ products. Therefore, many of the documentation written by
Wonderware is relevant for this product. When you install Wonderware software
components, the documents associated with those software components are also
installed. You can view the list of documents from the [Start] menu. Select Start >
Apps > Wonderware.
In addition, several documents describe the features of Foxboro SCADA. When you
install the Foxboro SCADA software components, the documents associated with
those software components are also installed. You can view the list of documents from

Chapter 1: New Features of Foxboro SCADA


This section describes the new features of the Foxboro SCADA 3.4 software.

View SCADA HMI


• A new feature of shelving the alarms is now available for the current release. Both
$ViewSCADA and $ViewSCADA_FullHD support the shelving feature.
• In this release, the application also supports the Operator Workstation for the
Windows 10 Enterprise Operating System .

Foxboro SCADA System Disaster Recovery


• The disaster recovery service and the Foxboro SCADA VMs run on V91 servers
hosting Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard or Windows Server 2016 Standard
operation systems. For more information, see Foxboro™ SCADA Disaster
Recovery User’s Guide (B0750PL).
NOTE: Existing users of Foxboro SCADA can use Windows 7 Professional
SP1.64-bit but it is recommended to migrate to Windows 10 Enterprise.

Ordering Information
Foxboro SCADA 3.4 is compatible only with V91 Gen 9 Virtualization Server.
• V91 Gen 9 Virtualization Server:
◦ Windows Server 2012 R2: DVD and Microsoft licenses already received by
the customers are still valid.
◦ Windows Server 2016: Upgrade KIT K0204AK can be ordered from
BuyAutomation to upgrade the Operating System version to Windows Server
2016.
• H92 – Workstation: Upgrade Kits K0204AG or K0204AH can be ordered from
BuyAutomation to upgrade the Operating System to Windows 10.

Microsoft Licenses
You must order licenses from the BuyAutomation if they are not already purchased
with the previous installation of Foxboro SCADA 3.x versions.

Wonderware System Platform Licenses


Foxboro SCADA 3.4 requires Wonderware System Platform 2014 R2 SP1. Licenses
can be ordered in BuyAutomation by using the S56 Model Configurator.
To specify that the configuration is for Foxboro SCADA product, select:
• Option 2 - Foxboro SCADA Include only Foxboro SCADA
• Edition 3 – 7.0

Chapter 2: Restrictions
This section describes the restrictions while running the Foxboro SCADA 3.4
software.

Foxboro SCADA View


The restrictions while running the Foxboro SCADA View software are:
• Do not modify the windows and scripts supplied with the Foxboro SCADA View
software. Your edits to the standard windows and scripts will be lost when you
upgrade the application. All standard windows are named with “Z” as a prefix.
• Name all standard QuickFunctions, Data Change, and Conditions scripts with
either “hmi” or “Z” as a prefix.
• Retain the word “SCADA” while renaming the instances created from the
“ViewSCADA” template.

Foxboro SCADA Device Integration Objects


The restrictions while running Device Integration objects in the Foxboro SCADA
framework are:
• The DNP3 Master Adapter custom SOE will not work if you indirectly reference
the objects. The input reference specified in the Application objects must not be
in the form of AdapterName.Group.AttributeAdapterName.Group.

If the system is configured with 16000 I/Os and 80 RTUs, then you can configure
a maximum of 250 SOE points.
• The present implementation of Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
agent is limited to the SNMP protocol version 1.

The System Manager can only monitor SNMP v1 compatible devices.

Foxboro SCADA Core Application Objects


The restrictions while running the Foxboro SCADA core objects are:
• Multiple I/O objects can have a maximum of eight field attributes (combination of
analog and digital).
