Assignment

1. when applying the lenz's law, what are the two magnetic fields to consider? Elaborate

- Faraday's Law tells us that inducing a voltage into a conductor can be done by either passing it
through a magnetic field, or by moving the magnetic field past the conductor and that if this conductor
is part of a closed circuit, an electric current will flow.

2. why there are sparks when circuit are opened? why there a spark when the switch for the circuit is
closed?

- there are sparks when circuit are opened because of the electricity running on it something
like the negative and positive charges that attached in a object touches each other. and there is no
sparks happen when the switch for circuit is closed it is because the current that flow has been blocked.
hence there is a temperature stresses as a cold components begins to warm up. then there are the
voltage and current spikes and surges created as capacitors charges up inductors build their fields etc.
and its not just the components but the stray capacitance and inductance as well. according to
Engr.Willam Rose.

3. A spacecraft orbiting earth has a coil of wire in it. Astronaut measure small current in the coil.
although there is no battery connected to it and there are no magnets in the spacecraft. what is the
causing the current?

3. A spacecraft orbiting Earth has a coil of wire in it. An astronaut measures a small current in the
coil, although there is no battery connected to it and there are no magnets in the spacecraft. What is
causing the current?

- The Earth produces a magnetic field that is similar to a magnetic dipole. The spacecraft orbiting
the Earth is travelling through this dipole, so the changing magnetic field through which it travels will
produce a small emf in the coil.

4. How is electric energy produced in dams?

- the water on dams flow to its propeller where it can rotate super fast then it can produce
energy that will be store in the dynamo then the electric energy will flow and store to the transformer
and the transformer will control the energy supply to the community. however, a hydrologic turbane
converts the energy of flowing water into mechanical energy. In a large generator, electromagnets are
made by circulating direct current through loops of wire wound round stacks of magnetic steel
laminations. the rotor is attached to the turbine shaft, it causes the field pokes to move past the
conductor mounted in the stator. This, in turn causes electricity to flow and a voltage to develop the
generator output terminal base on the idea of (U.S. Army corps of engineers)

5. wearing a metal bracelet in a region of strong magnetic field could be hazardous? Discuss this
statement.

-.for me is a Yes it will be hazardous because it will cause to heatt up the bracelet and be pulled.
the magnetic field should change rapidly, a large emf could be inducer in the bracelet. if the bracelet
were not a continuous band. this emf would cause high voltage to occur at any gap in the band. if the
bracelet were a continuous band, the induce emf would produce a large induced current and result in
resistance heating of the bracelet. also the bracelet is metalic it will be pulled towards the strong
magnetic force acting arround it. and you can be pulled with the bracelet if the force is strong enough
which can cause harm to you.
