1. INTRODUCTION
North Oil Company (NOC) (referred as COMPANY in this document) is a crude oil and natural gas company based in Qatar.
The operations along with production, sale and export of crude oil have started since 14th July 2017.
The Al Shaheen field is Qatar’s largest oil field. It is a conventional oil field (60m W D) situated offshore in Qatar
approximately 70km NNE of Ras Laffan. The field overlays the giant pre -Khuff gas field known as North Field.
In order to sustain and further increase current production rate with a strategy to achieve a plateau of 300 kbopd,
COMPANY has initiated Gallaf project (Phase 2) to install seven new WHPs, in three batches as detailed below:
➢ Batch - 1: New bridge-linked Wellhead platform (24 Slots) including jackets (DC / FC / EG), shall be installed and
the new WHP’s shall be integrat ed with their respective existing host platforms (DA / FA / ED) facilities.
➢ Batch - 2: New bridge-linked Wellhead platform (24 Slots) including jackets (CE / EH) shall be installed and the
new WHP’s shall be integrated with their respective host platforms (CD / EG) facilities.
➢ Batch - 3: New WHP’s (JA / KA) shall be remote connected to a new Process Platform (GE), bridge -linked to
existing facilities GD and corresponding brownfield integration on F and G locations.
A schematic showing the locations for the three batches is presented below:

2. PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to define insulation specification for Al Shaheen Phase 2 – Batch 3 project.
To minimize the risk of Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI), the use of insulation shall b e minimized to the extent possible.
If unavoidable, insulation system shall be adequately designed to minimize these risks.
3. SCOPE
This specification defines the additional technical requirements for thermal insulation applied for piping systems &
equipment on platforms for Al Shaheen Phase 2 – Batch 3 project. This document amends and supplements t he following
COMPANY standards:
Modification to the above listed COMPANY standards are identified as Add, Modify, Replace or Delete. Clauses of the above
standards that are not addressed within this document shall remain fully applicable as written.
This specification excludes HVAC & Architectural insulation which are addressed separately in HVAC/Architectural particular
specification.
