ABORTION: A RIDICULOUS DISCUSSION IN ILLUSTRATION TIMES.

AN ESSAY

The question whether permitting women under multiple kind of circumstances to

abort their fetus is absolutely non-sense in the very 21 st century for reasons everyone
knows. Nonetheless, it seems most of the time, they are put back in the closet of
thought and reason and other foundationless “arguments” come to cover them in the
discussion arena. These fallacies coming from diverse sources, mostly from religion,
are, without a doubt, impacting the current discourse on the topic worse than the
benefits it produces. Our asset will be to indicate the formulations why an aborted fetus
represents a higher profit (in any case) than a born human being without the minimum
life qualities assured that usually accompany these misfortune creatures.

On addressing this tremendously sensitive topic, it is worth acknowledging, if we

are supposed to be cogitating in the frame of illustration, that one of its principles
advocates for humanism. This is the respect, overall phenomena, for personal decisions
that do not escape from private life boundaries. It is, the decisions made by pregnant
women about their pregnancy (understood a personal, non-social process) has to be
respected in all its spheres more than arguing or blaming the possible impact it might
have. At the end of the day the one who is pregnant is who is feeling, suffering or loving:
the woman. In other words, as to black communities going to school was recognized in
to be a right past centuries, or voting for women in multiple states all around the globe;
especially now, the right to abort is becoming a principle which seems to be abandoned,
family-less. It is evident, so, that it needs to take its place in national constitutions and
stop being a case of simple theoretical formulations.

Respectable writings must look around and acknowledge others´ arguments

against its own position. Fanatics love trying to debunk in-favor-abortion discourse
indicating that abortion is a synonym of killing, and the one practicing it (say, the doctor,
the woman or any other) is a killer. Long time ago, philosophical 1 schools have shed
sufficient light on this by clearly stating that an embryo is not a child (person), and those
who defend this position are the modern slaves in Plato´s cavern, being blind to their
reality. Moreover, for instance, the Convention on the Right of the Child establishes a
theoretical and practical precedent when declaring that a child is understood as “all
beings from conception until 18 years old”. This simply smooths the way by getting rid of
questions like: When are we talking about a person on abortion? among others, that
their contribution is zero. In this sense, life as the main right to be preserved cannot be
taken out of every right´s principle, which prevents us from going around the bushes on
the discussion: not all rights are absolute.

Finally, let us analyze the following awful and stinking case of abortion regulation
in El Salvador. This tiny country in Central America brags itself for Constitutionally being
secular; notwithstanding, in practice it is more religious than the abbey where Eco´s
crime takes place. In El Salvador, abortion is prohibited and penalized 2, no matter under
which circumstances a pregnancy is produced: how, when or by whom. What is worth
there, in the country of a jovial president3 who seems to be more an Instagrammer than

and actual president in functions, is that if a woman decides to abort because she was
raped, her son / daughter is scientifically ill or/and his/her life will be miserable and poor,
legal instruments do not hear these reasons and rather send the “killer” to jail and
ignore possible already born children letting them alone and orphaned. The perception
is that what feels here is law more than the woman of whom the shackles of intolerance
will be put on for the rest of her life.

Is this acceptable? The question is still open. Hopefully, in the near future we
could mind more important topics like: what are we eating tonight? Or where is my cat?

Notes

1. Some others may also argue that the only human invention worth putting its
hands on fire in favor of “pregnancy not matter what” is religion. Let us remember
that it is a subproduct of philosophy that, unfortunately has deviated its original
purposed towards insolent fanaticism. Also, philosophy, as Karl Marx said, it only
practical when it helps changing the world and not for mere sterile theory.

2. Maximum 30 in-prison years.

3. Nayib Bukele violates El Salvador Constitution using public and official spaces
for showing and promoting his evident Christianity. In a recent interview he has
not scruples on advocating for respecting life over any circumstance (what a
crime).
