TOPIC : SOUNDS OF ENGLISH

TEACHING METHODS : SILENT WAY

TEACHING GOAL : LET THE STUDENTS KNOW ABOUT THE VOWEL AND CONSONANT.

OBJECTIVES :

1) TO LEARN THE VOWELS (REGCONIZE AND PRONOUNCE)


2) TO USE VOWEL AND CONSONANT TO MAKE SENTENCES.

STUDENTS : YEAR 5

NUMBER OF STUDENTS : 20

TIME : 20 MINUTES

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENTS : RODS, COLOUR-SOUND CHART.

SET INDUCTION: shows some symbols of vowels and consonants to students.

-Let them know what they will learn today.

STEPS :

1) INTRODUCE ENGLISH SOUNDS WITH SOUND CHART.


a) Use SOUND CHART to explain the SOUNDS.
-The TEACHER start with something the STUDENTs already know and build from that to
unknown.
-The STUDENTs will bring with them the experience of already learning language.

b) Ss take turns to practice the target language.


-The T keeps silent to make the Ss practice.
-The T use gesture to show how to modify the sounds.
-Ss should learn to rely on each other and themselves.

2) STUDENT PRACTICE THE TARGET LANGUAGE WITH ROD AND SOUND CHART.
-The T points to one of the rods and then point to three rectangles of colour on the
sound- colour chart.
- Ss try to speak them out.
-Reading is worked on from beginning but follows from what students have learned to
say.

CONCLUSION : Teacher asks student for their reaction to the lesson.


- No assignment and no formal test.
- Teacher assesses student learning all the time.
