IP Trainer™ Instrument Pilot Procedures Course. IP Trainer is a desktop simulator with a

foundation of artificial intelligence in the form of a virtual instrument flight instructor (CFII), an interactive
courseware designed exclusively for instrument students. It can compare its knowledge of the Instrument
Practical Test Standards against a student’s real-time flight simulation performance. Most importantly, while
using IP Trainer to build a solid foundation of instrument skills, you’ll also be saving money. Users
consistently attain their Instrument Rating with less dual time and with less expense than students who rely
on traditional methods alone, saving an average of $1,000 in their total training costs for the rating. With a
built-in CFII, spoken ATC guidance, the comprehensive Instrument Flying textbook, and a full complement of
IFR lessons, IP Trainer is the single best way to bring instrument training home.

Instrument Refresher – An IPC Simulator. This new, interactive desktop flight simulator was
developed specifically to help instrument-rated pilots maintain proficiency in the maneuvers outlined in the
FAA instrument currency requirements (per 14 CFR 61.57), to prepare them for the Instrument Proficiency
Check (IPC), and to provide a platform to refine their scan using the program’s innovative Scan Manager
tool. Instrument Refresher will help pilots build confidence in their instrument skills and get over the refresher
hurdle with the guidance of a qualified, knowledgeable “virtual” instructor from the privacy of their own
home. Instrument Refresher provides pilots with 24 lessons divided into four blocks of learning: navigation,
airwork, enroute procedures and instrument approaches. These lessons cover approaches, holding procedures,
unusual attitudes, partial panel, radio communications, steep turns and the proper use of NAVAIDs. A fifth
lesson block simulates an actual Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC). Our virtual instructor will evaluate the
pilot’s performance against the FAA Instrument Rating Practical Test Standards (PTS), and provide feedback
on how to execute and improve the procedures. All of the approach charts and legends required for the
lessons are included. The photorealistic and aerodynamically accurate Cessna 172, communications with ATC,

Communications Trainer: Say Again, Please – Guide to Radio Communications. ASA’s

Communications Trainer: Say Again, Please helps you master radio communications from your computer and
stereo. Use your computer for the simple yet comprehensive tutorial. Use your home or car stereo to listen to
the audio review. Computer learning tools in the form of audio clips, animations, original figures and
diagrams, combine with Bob Gardner’s popular textbook Say Again, Please to teach radio communications in
VFR and IFR operations and all airspace classes. Increase your comfort level when using an aircraft radio with
examples of typical transmissions that explain how the air traffic control system works. Presents simulated
flights that clearly demonstrate correct communication procedures in each class of airspace.
Communications Trainer: Say Again, Please is an invaluable tool for students who want to practice before
their flights, pilots with rusty communication skills, those who rarely fly into heavy airspace, those who want
to practice copying and comprehending clearances, and those who want to sound like a pro — both VFR
and IFR. Understand how ATC and your radio equipment works, and learn what to say, what to expect to
hear, and how to interpret clearances and instructions.

FAA TESTS
ASA EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS

Test Prep Series

FAA Computer Testing Supplement is bundled with every test book so you will become accustomed to referring to the FAA Figures and Legends as you will during the
test. The FAA tests are on a one-year cycle, with changes made up to 3 times a year. We make sure you have the most current information by publishing the books in
July of each year and posting updates on the ASA website that show changes made to the test questions. ASA’s Test Preps contain the FAA questions and answer
stems — plus answers, explanations (for both correct and incorrect answers), references, and FAA subject codes. Chapter text and illustrations help you more fully
understand the concepts.

The questions are arranged into chapters based on subject matter to promote better understanding, aid recall, and thus provide a more efficient study guide. ASA test
books include all the questions: airplane, rotorcraft, glider, and lighter-than-air categories are all included, and the questions are identified as to which test they apply.
Free e-mail updates available as changes occur. Use the Test Prep to study when away from your computer. Use the corresponding Prepware program to track your
progress and simulate the FAA test for the best possible preparation.

instrument conditions in the cockpit environment. The lightweight, clip-on visor attaches to any prescription
eyeglass or sunglass frame in seconds, flips up instantly for the perfect instrument-to-visual transition, and
when flipped down creates a near-perfect “simulated instrument” condition.
Overcasters clip onto any Airport/Facility Directory, flight guide or approach binder for easy storage, and can
be attached and in use in seconds. Their dark plastic lenses make “cheating” difficult in the cockpit, and are
manufactured for flexibility and durability. And perhaps best of all, Overcasters are widely accepted by FAA
examiners for use in practical tests and checkrides.
