PROGRAM: - BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

Subject Quantitative Techniques for Business

Subject Code BBA-201
Assignment No. 01
Assignment Title Introduction To Statistics
Due Date 05/05/2021

PULSE RATE (per minute) was recorded as:-

61, 75, 71, 72, 70, 65, 77, 72, 67, 80, 77, 62, 71, 74, 79, 67, 80, 77, 62, 71, 74, 61, 70, 80, 72, 59, 78, 71,
72.

I. Construct an inclusive frequency distribution table (tab 1) with classes’ interval 61-65 ………
of equal width?

Class Tally Frequency Class Relative Percentage

Interval (f) Marks Frequenc Frequency
y
56-60 ‫׀‬ 1 58 0.04 4
61-65 ‫׀׀׀׀‬ 4 63 0.16 16
66-70 ‫׀׀׀׀‬ 4 68 0.16 16
71-75 ‫׀׀׀׀ ׀׀׀׀‬ 10 73 0.40 40
76-80 ‫׀׀׀׀ ׀‬ 6 78 0.24 24
⅀f = 25

 Class Marks = lower limit + upper limit

2
For first interval (56-60),
Class marks = 56+60 = 58
2
Similarly, it goes for other class intervals also. Class interval 61-65 = 63
66-70 = 68
71-75 = 73
76-80 = 78

 Relative Frequency = f = 1 = 0.04 (for class interval 56-60)

⅀f 25
Same formula is used to find other relative frequencies.

 % Frequency = relative frequency x 100 = 0.04x100 = 4 (for class interval 56-60)

Same goes for other class intervals also.
II. Prepare an exclusive frequency distribution table (tab 2) with classes’ interval 60-65 ……….,
Calculate cumulative frequency?

Class Tally Frequency Class Relative % Cumulative Cumulative

Interval (f) Marks Frequency Frequency less than more than
55-60 ‫׀‬ 1 57.5 0.04 4 <60 = 1 >55 = 25
60-65 ‫׀׀׀‬ 3 62.5 0.12 12 <65 = 4 >60 = 24
65-70 ‫׀׀׀‬ 3 67.5 0.12 12 <70 = 7 >65 = 21
70-75 ‫׀׀׀׀ ׀׀׀׀ ׀‬ 11 72.5 0.44 44 <75 = 18 >70 = 18
75-80 ‫׀׀׀׀‬ 5 77.5 0.20 20 <80 = 23 >75 = 7
80-85 ‫׀׀‬ 2 82.5 0.08 8 <85 = 25 >80 = 2
⅀f = 25

 Class Marks = lower limit + upper limit

2
For first interval (55-60),
Class marks = 55+60 = 57.5
2
Similarly, it goes for other class intervals also. Class interval 60-65 = 62.5
65-70 = 67.5
70-75 = 72.5
75-80 = 77.5

 Relative Frequency = f = 1 = 0.04 (for class interval 55-60)

⅀f 25
Same formula is used to find other relative frequencies.

 % Frequency = relative frequency x 100 = 0.04x100 = 4 (for class interval 55-60)

Same goes for other class intervals also.

 Cumulative frequency is the analysis of the frequency of the occurrence of the values of
phenomenon less than a reference value. There are 2 types of cumulative frequency
distribution which are as follows:-
1. Less than type: obtained by adding successively frequencies of all the previous
classes including the classagainst which it is written.
2. More than type: obtained by finding the cumulate total of frequencies starting from
the highest to the lowest class.
III. For the prepared tab1 and tab2, prepare graphs using excel?
