This chapter will cover the background of the study, statement of the roblem, general
objectives, specific objectives, research questions, scope of the study, significance of the
study, conceptual frame work and definition of key terms

a) General objective:
The main objective of the study will be to assess the impact of mobile money on small
scale businesses in Uganda using Kamwokya as a case study.
b) Specific objectives:
To identify the challenges faced in the usage of mobile money
To establish possible solutions or ways of fighting the challenges faced in the usage of
mobile money
To identify challenges facing small scale businesse in Uganda
c) Research questions:
What is the impact of mobile money on small scale businesses in Uganda using
Kamwokya as a case study?
What are the challenges faced in the usage of mobile money?
What are the possible solutions or ways of fighting the challenges faced in the usage of
mobile money
What are the challenges facing small scale businesse in Uganda?
Scope of the study
Geographical scope
The study will be conducted in Kamwokya located within the city of Kampala Uganda's
capital as approximately 4.5 kilometres (2.8 mi), by road, northeast of the Kampala's
central business district (home hipo.ug,20202) this will be used as the case study because
it has numerous growing small-scale businesses, mobile money centers, many people and
a periodic market

Time scope:

The study will be carried out for a period of two months that is May and July 2022 since
the researcher will have enough time to collect the various information from the selected
population and compile the findings. The literature to be used in the study will be between
2000 and 2020

Subject scope:
The subject scope will be mostly be aimed to assess the impact of mobile money on small
scale businesses in Uganda using Kamwokya as a case study in addition to identify the
challenges faced in the usage of mobile money, to establish possible solutions or ways of
fighting the challenges faced in the usage of mobile money and to identify challenges
facing small scale businesses in Uganda
