Introduction

Recruitment and selections are used interchangeably however, both have

different scope. Recruitment refers to the method of attracting the simplest candidates

for a particular position at a corporation. Numerous steps are considered essential to

the recruitment process, including creating an employment description that accurately

summarizes what an employer needs out of a replacement worker and what benefits.

Selection is that the process of selecting the foremost suitable candidate for the vacant

position within the organization. In other words, selection means removing unsuitable

applicants and selecting those individuals with prerequisite qualifications and

capabilities to fill the roles within the organization.

Apple Inc. is American multinational technology company in Cupertino California

that designs, develops, and sells consumer electronics, computer software, and online

services, the Company’s hardware product that include iPhone, smartphone, the iPod

tablet computer. Apple was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne

in April 1976 to develop and sell Wozniak’s Apple “I” personal computer. It was

incorporated as Apple Computer Inc. in January 1977.

Apple Inc.'s board of directors consists of eight members with a solid leadership

background in an exceeding range of industries. Three members are acting CEO and

two members are former Chairman and CEO of global companies. Moreover, proven

leaders such as former US Vice President Albert Gore Jr, former Corporate President

the Boeing Company James A Bell, and co-founder and Director of BlackRock Susan

Wagner also serve in Apple Board of Directors. As of May 2020, the company has a

current number of 147,000, full-time employees worldwide. And had been through the
strict requirement to be one of the employees of the World’s 2nd largest Technology

Company.

The Practices of Apple Company Referring to their Recruitment and Selection

The Apple Inc. gives importance to their employees because they believe in the

fact that their employees are the reason for their organization’s success. The human

resource department recruits the best employee that has the appropriate skills and

knowledge in a certain position.

The company makes the best thing possible and never gives up when the hardpoint

comes. This organization hires employees that have the expertise, top-of-the-field

employees, or employees that have the potential to be at the top of the field. Apple

company believes that even small teams as long as the right people have a good

mindset that they can do great things then it will happen.

In hiring employees, they follow the organization's policies and goals. Each

applicant needs to go through 3 to 4 rounds of interviews, that is if Apple is satisfied with

the resumes, you've given them. Details of the first interview will be notified to the

candidates after about 2 to 3 weeks. the first interview will be a group interview,

the candidates will also be present for several role-play scenarios in which they will act

They do an external method which they are looking for the applicants outside the

organization or other firms that deals with recruitment and the other method are the
internal recruitment which the existing employees can fill the vacant position and it is

divided into four subs which are the requisition, sourcing, selection, and closure. The

two methods were applied by the company to ensure a strong workforce; they also did

an interview that combined with the practical test that can determine what skills the

applicant has.

Also, Apple Inc. doing another method for selection, they assign the applicants in

some mini-tasks that are related to the actual job, which helps to clear the picture of the

applicants in work. This method is used as a representative of the actual job that can

help to make appropriate decisions in selection.

The employee of this company doing the best practices and the possible great

things they can do in every last detail as long as there’s no time to refine. They doing

not just good enough but doing the best thing they can do. In this company, different

groups collaborate when doing redesigning their products and focusing on every detail.

Their engineers become an expert in a computer simulation on a magnetic field and

some employees become an expert in new ideas because they need to figure out the

problems and how to create a new product.

Considering the Strategic technique of Apple Inc. in Recruiting and Selection

Process

The Apple Company is considered as strategic in Recruiting and Selecting

Employees because they have a strict requirement to be one of the employees of the

Apple Company since they are the World's 2nd largest Information Technology

company. The applicants must need to go through 3 to 4 rounds of interviews, that is if


Apple is satisfied with the resumes, you’ve given them. Details of the first interview will

be notified to the candidates after about 2 to 4 weeks.

The first interview will be a group Interview. Applicants will be set in a group

setting with about 15 other candidates. During this first interview, Apple employees will

ask each candidate a series of social questions, social and more of a people person

would be what Apple wants. If the candidates have passed the first interviews, then

there will be a background check.

The second interview will be notified within 2 to 6 days or a week and a phone

call will be received by each candidate who had passed the first one. They will be asked

about their opinion on Apple, about their interest in a job position in Apple, etc. The

interview will be done one on one with the store manager.

For the third interview, every response of the candidate might be evaluated, like

will the candidate respond with a question or a situation. This interview will be done one

on one with the general manager. For the last interview, the candidate will be asking to

come into another one-on-one interview with the head manager/high-level manager.

Since Apple Company is a well-known company, they must have the best

employees who will ensure their company growth. Apple Inc. The company utilizes both

internal and external recruitment and selection methods to enhance its workforce. The

recruitment process is generally divided into four sub-processes which are; requisition,

sourcing, selection, and closure. Another is the process of recruitment and selection is a

very critical aspect in every organization and it should be taken seriously since it

touches on the most important resource of an organization which is the human


resource. The recruiting and selecting process is strategic because based on the article

that I read by Nakhil Yada is to minimize employee’s strength in the order to meet

employers' strategic goals and objectives. Strategic human resource management is the

connection between a company's human resources and its strategies, objectives, and

goals.

Apple Company apply the Strategic Human Resource Management

The great reputation of Apple Inc., in the tech industry, enabled it to recruit highly

skilled, innovative, and creative employees to attain success. Among hiring competent

employees, Apple’s organization esteem includes openness, condition, incorporation,

provider obligation, and decent variety. Apple believes that innovation is open to

everyone. This makes Apple Inc., create performance-based opportunities for his or her

employee whose innovation is out there for everybody.

This company - Apple has based its success on the strength of its employees.

The human resource strategy employed by the company is that the first reason behind

its continued growth and excellent performance within the market. Apple has some

great talents, and therefore the management has been equipped with the simplest talent

management approaches. This is to ensure that the company attracts and retains a

talented workforce. Great talents and efficient management skills are the first reason

why Apple has become a pacesetter within the manufacture of consumer electronics.

Apple Inc. used a strategic human resource management approach that is aimed

at attracting the best talents and retaining them at the same time. These strategic HR

practices have enabled the firm to become the leading provider of consumer personal

computing products within the world.


The word “strategic” literally means something done as a neighborhood of an

idea to realize a specific purpose or to realize a plus. Strategic management could also

be conceived because of the process of identifying and formulating strategic goals,

selecting strategies to realize the goals, executing the strategic plan, and evaluating its

effectiveness. Strategic human resource management, thus, refers to adopting a

specific plan concerning human resources, and revamping human resource policies and

practices, and developing employee competencies to cope with special or challenging

situations.

According to Vozz, 2017 the HR strategies of Apple always seem to rent a

various, independent, talented employee who doesn’t need direction. This imprints

Apple's willingness to be the simplest tech company within the world, by allowing great

ideas for the corporate. Apple’s most employees were provided with training once they

joined the company. Apple reinforces employees to create self -reliant and skills on their

own that periodically emerges as an enormous addition to the corporate. The company

makes sure employees prepare themselves not only physically but also mentally to leap

over from one bigger project to a different one. The entire team member is competing

with one another to innovate something big and highly advantageous that creates them

self-efficient.

The key people that work for Apple are in the marketing, technical, staff

positions. The primary objective of the corporate is to draw in and retain its employees.

To achieve this, the corporate has employed different strategic human resource

practices to draw in skilled professionals. Apple is curious about maximizing the efforts

of its workforce by investing in its skills. The company recognizes human capital as an
important element for overall competitiveness. Human resources are the drive towards

its development strategy. As such, the firm has capitalized on the competencies of its

staff with the first objective of achieving a competitive advantage within the market. The

great talents and other people management approach utilized in the corporate have

enabled it to become the foremost innovative firm within the consumer industry.

The HR of Apple Inc. works towards maximizing the returns on investment by

minimizing the financial risks while capitalizing on human capital. The human resource

management of Apple Inc is charged with various responsibilities including recruitment

and selection, leadership development, incentive compensation, employee

development, and employee relations among others. These activities are administered

by human resource managers efficiently and consistently.

To enhance the culture of free-thinking and innovation, the teams meet twice a

week. During the meetings, they will brainstorm to return up with something new filled

with innovation. Apple doesn't prepare training programs, but employees are

encouraged to find out on their own. This type of learning allows the workers to receive

incredible returns that contribute to the event of the corporate. The challenges

experienced during the projects encourage employees to become proactive about what

is going to be happening the subsequent day. The employees of Apple can learn on

their own without training. This strategy has enabled the corporate to nurture and

develop talents that have made the corporate achieve international recognition.

Apple has the simplest talents that have enabled it to be ranked because of the

best company in providing personal computing. However, its corporate culture doesn't

promote the morale of the workers. The HR strategy should be aligned with the general
organizational strategy to make sure of imminent and sustainable long-term success.

Apple should adopt HRM policies that encourage systematic practice where employees

are involved in decision-making. This will enable the corporate to manage various

workforce and realize sustainable growth. With this strategy, this company - Apple, may

lead the technology trade in the market and with this strategic management, they

possess to be the great company that values their customers as well as their

employees.

Conclusion
The recruitment and selection processes are very challenging and should be

done carefully with appropriate methods and techniques to ensure that the hired

employees are the right ones in terms of qualification and experience.

The methods decided on should always put into consideration the organization’s

goals and objectives and the purpose of the recruitment and selection process to avoid

any divergence or loss of focus. The recruitment and selection methods and processes

should as well ensure that the right individual is hired in the right place and at the right

time to facilitate efficiency, effectiveness, and economy in the organization which in the

long run enhances productivity and profitability.

Effective recruitment and selection can contribute to an organization's success.

During the recruitment process, both internal and external sources of employees should

be considered. It will increase the probability of organizations attracting a wide range of

candidates. The report will help in understanding various aspects of the recruitment

strategy adopted by apple. Apple is no doubt, amongst the topmost companies of the

world so, it is important that company should aware of all its recruitment sources and
choose the best people. Apple takes affirmative action to offer employment and

advancement opportunities to all applicants. Moreover, this is to determine the

relationship between the company's organizational structure, practices, and recruitment

policy.

Recommendation

Apple Inc. is powerful in promotion and the place. iPhone is widely

marketed using online platforms and retail promotions. In the first few years of this

company, apple smashed the whole market of mobile and smartphones . One of the

major reasons which make users unwilling to buy Apple products, in general, is keeping

their strategy in technology closed and intact, and not allowing the developers to

explore to the next level. But to continue and keep on supporting the company the staffs

and employees has also a good character which is potential customer appreciates it a

lot. One of the keys to why a company makes successful is because they build a

relationship, this isn’t just customers-employees relationship but the loyalty of the

employees towards the customers. The satisfaction of the customer has a great impact

on your company as well as the productivity of your employees. Choose people who

have a good character and know the value of building a relationship because it would

help your company to become successful soon.

Apple Inc. Has a good set of employees because they were super strict when it

comes to choosing a candidate. They undergo 4 interviews in able to choose a better

employee that soon becoming part of their company. One of the best ways to continue

improving the recruitment and selection of Apple Inc. Are add some more actions or
interview them like how are they going to handle if some customers complaint about the

services or the character of the staff. One more thing is testing their patience and

knows their personalities because it is important to know them first before they got

hired. Observe how they interact with customers, how they assist the customers, and

especially how they treat customers. Address the customers properly is very important

because it is the start of building a relationship and gaining trust from the customers.

Everyone knows that Apple Inc. Has a good reputation for delivering excellent customer

and giving its customers delightful experiences at their various outlets all over the world.

Apple Inc. is a complete package aside from product but also the customer

services. Apple company and employees value customers because they want to keep a

potential customer. The aim is to build a genuine relationship with customers. Apple

employees also have proactive service features that make guests feel comfortable

when they walk into a store. These kinds of strategies make your company successful

and other companies must have applied and adopted these to have a long-term

company and to make your company successful in the future.
