Whenever we have to investigate some aspect of behaviour that is vague or may have
multiple meanings, we may want to define such terms or concepts in ways that are precise,
measurable, and concrete. Such definitions are called operational definitions. These refer to
detailed explanations of the technical terms and measurements used during data collection.
Technical definition is of, or pertaining to, the useful or mechanical arts, or to any
academic, legal, scientific, engineering, business, or the like terminology with specific
and precise meaning or (frequently, as a degree of distinction) shades of meaning;
specially appropriate to any art, science or engineering field, or business
