Assessment
How the assessment will help me understand my learners' level of understanding and
confidence:
This assessment will help me understand whether the students could use the formula of
cosine rule or not. From problem 1 and 2, I can see whether the students understand which
variable to be substituted to find the value of the unknown length. From problem 3 and 4, I
can see whether the students understand how to rearrange the formula to get the value of
cosine of the angle. From problem 5 I can see whether the students understand how to use
arccosine to find the angle of the triangle, after using cosine rule to find the value of the
cosine a.
If the students get a score below 50, I will ask them to do an extra assignment for them to
master the topic. If they still fail the extra assignment, I will arrange one meeting after
school to reteach them about the topic. If more than 60% of the students in one class get a
score below 50, I will directly reteach the topic to the class before continuing to the new
chapter to be taught.
What I could do help my learners who do not have the required levels of
knowledge/ability:
I plan to give extra assignment after the result of this pre-knowledge assessment is given to the
students. Students who get a score below 50 from this assessment need to do three worksheets
focusing on the knowledge that they have difficulties on. They need to submit the worksheets in one
week, so I could see their progress on the topic.
