TOA: Creation Story

How Generation Z Came To Be

Nikkei hurried down the scorching, warm streets to visit his newly born set of triplets. As
he rushed to visit his wife, he thought about how this moment would change his life
forever; he had now become a father. Thrilled to finally meet his children, Nikkei painted
the town red on his way home. As he reached the doorsteps of his home, Nikkei knocked
with great enthusiasm. Little did he know, he would come home to his dead wife. A dark
surprise awaited him.

It was Oni, the god of hellfire, that came by to visit his three beautiful children. Nikkei
had planned on naming them Issei, Nissei, and Sansei. As Nikkei stared into the dark,
empty soul of the god, he stood still – as if he was being hypnotized by the evil being into
doing so. The loud crying of the newly-borns only made Oni want to hurry up even more;
he wanted to steal Sensei. So he fetches the baby from the cradle with his long, black
horns, swoons him into his arms, and vanishes from the city of Fukuoka immediately.
Nikkei could not do anything but watch as his son was being taken away from him.

60 years later, Nikkei spends his days and nights still looking for his long lost son. With
only Issei and Nissei by his side, he asks them to reach out to Oni. Issei and Nissei did
not know how to communicate with the devil, so they divulged themselves to old , tale
books; one would consider the two siblings old-fashioned. The legend would say that the
only way to lure the devil into the empty streets of Fukuoka was to kill a pair of goats and
burn them into flames; so they did such. It was indeed true, as Oni suddenly appeared in
front of the three of them. Nikkei pleads to Oni that he wants to see his abducted son; he
was willing to do anything to see his son, Sansei, again. Anything.

Oni offers to release Sansei under one condition; that he has to give up both Issei and
Nissei and sacrifice them. As he cries in uncertainty and disarray, he agrees to give them
up. As Issei and Nissei are set aflame by their father, he bids them farewell. Nikkei tells
them that those 60 years were a blessing to him, but he couldn’t live with the idea that he
would never see Sansei ever again.

For honoring the deal, Oni returns the long lost child to his father again, but this time he
didn’t even recognize his own child. Sansei was still young, even robot-like. Shocked
with how Sansei looked like, Nikkei questioned Oni on why he looks like a teenager,
when in fact he was born over 60 years ago. Oni admits that he had used Sansei as a test
subject for over the past half-century and experimented on his body. He found a way to
make him advanced, smarter than everyone else, and age very slowly. Sansei was now a
product of innovation and technology. He is Generation Z.
