What does TESOL stand for?

TESOL: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

TESL: Teaching English as a Second Language

TEFL: Teaching English as a Foreign Language

CELTA: Certificate of English Language Teaching for Adults

TESOL is the most widely recognized qualification in North America. CELTA is more

What are the differences between

While TESOL certifies teachers to teach ESL both in a Native Speaking Country (i.e., Canada)

TESOL carries the most updated methods and allows teachers to teach ESL to Adults, Business

CELTA is to teach English to Adults only. Additionally, TESOL has been updated with hybrid
methods of online technology while CELTA remains in classical teaching modes. TESOL offers
continuing education credits toward graduate university studies of Masters or Ph.D. in TESOL
or Education. As a vocational program, CELTA is not available in graduate schools toward Ph.D.
