Good Care Medical Center needs to apply various practices to eliminate current
barriers on Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to intensify their range of practice
and apply their full skill set knowledge. Advanced Practice Registered Nurses are nurses
holding a graduate-level degree and having experienced a training in one of the four primary
advanced practice roles. Such roles include certified registered nurse anaesthetist (CRNA),
nurse practitioner (NP), certified midwife (CM), and clinical nurse specialist (CNS). In the
VanVleet and Paradise (2015), the demand for primary care physicians has increased over the
last five years due to increase in aging people and growth of population. With the quality
education given to APRNs, they are able to provide quality services to patients and relate
New Jersey Statutes Title 30. Institutions and Agencies 30 & 4D-8.2. As stated in the New
Jersey, APRNs must be certified and issued by the Board of Nursing. In the New Jersey,
clinical nurse specialists are recognised as Advance Practice Nurse (APN). According to the
Institute for Nursing (2010), the number of licenced APNs in New Jersey was 3700 as of
2010.
In March 2015, Nebraska expanded the scope of APRNs which was supported and
signed by then Governor Pete Ricketts. By doing so, Nebraska State joined the list of 20
states that empowered nurse practitioners with full practice authority and the ability to
practice without the presence of clinicians. APRNs in Nebraska have the power to diagnose
and treat patients which helps the state to meet the booming demand for healthcare.
