Good Care Medical Center needs to apply various practices to eliminate current

barriers on Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) to intensify their range of practice

and apply their full skill set knowledge. Advanced Practice Registered Nurses are nurses

holding a graduate-level degree and having experienced a training in one of the four primary

advanced practice roles. Such roles include certified registered nurse anaesthetist (CRNA),

nurse practitioner (NP), certified midwife (CM), and clinical nurse specialist (CNS). In the

industry of medicine, we have significant scarcity of primary care physicians. According to

VanVleet and Paradise (2015), the demand for primary care physicians has increased over the

last five years due to increase in aging people and growth of population. With the quality

education given to APRNs, they are able to provide quality services to patients and relate

with them well in healthcare environment.

A policy formed to acknowledge nurse practitioners as main care providers is the

New Jersey Statutes Title 30. Institutions and Agencies 30 & 4D-8.2. As stated in the New

Jersey, APRNs must be certified and issued by the Board of Nursing. In the New Jersey,

clinical nurse specialists are recognised as Advance Practice Nurse (APN). According to the

Institute for Nursing (2010), the number of licenced APNs in New Jersey was 3700 as of

2010.

In March 2015, Nebraska expanded the scope of APRNs which was supported and

signed by then Governor Pete Ricketts. By doing so, Nebraska State joined the list of 20

states that empowered nurse practitioners with full practice authority and the ability to

practice without the presence of clinicians. APRNs in Nebraska have the power to diagnose

and treat patients which helps the state to meet the booming demand for healthcare.
