1 Objective of Document

To outline the requirements, and to provide a safe working environment and work
method statement for the handling and installation work of the 600V and 415V
Switchgear.

3 Permit Application

Prior to the commencement of work, a PTW from the Main Contractor shall be
applied together with RA, highlighting the critical safety aspects of the work
involved.
Work can only commence after the approval of the above-mentioned permit(s).
Main Contractor safety department shall approve all installation work operation.

4 Work Prerequisites

Ensure that all personnel at site had attended the SIC conducted by the Main
Contractor.
All electrical tools to be used at site must be inspected and approved by a LEW.
Housekeeping is to be done during and after work. PPE shall be used as per job
requirement.
Trained and qualified personnel shall carry out the work.
All other safety requirements by the Main Contractor shall be complied with without
failure.

6 Preparations Prior To Commencement Of Work

Work can only commence after the approval of PTW by the Main Contractor.
Barricade and cordon off the affected area.
Contractor to survey the area of operation and workspace.
Conduct a survey of the area around the destination location for any obstructions
with other services.
Materials transportation routes shall be adequately protected.

7 Sequence Of Work

7.1 Preparation and Installation Works of LV Switchboard


7.1.1 The Section Marking Tags on the LV Switchboards should be checked
against the general arrangement drawings to ensure that there is no shortage
of the parts or sections.
7.1.2 All switchboards shall be checked and inspected with the general
arrangement drawings before installation on site.
7.1.3 Before the installation, mark on the floor to verify the designated location.
7.1.4 The switchboard sections shall be arranged in sequence into the switchroom.
7.1.5 Position all sections with crowbar and iron roller onto the floor markings at
the designated location. The back cover plates should be removed to
facilitate the jointing during positioning.
7.1.6 Align and level the switchboards. Check the panels for proper levelling, and
ensure that the fastening holes are matching. If required, make fine
adjustment to the position of break sections of the switchboard, by placing
shims to get to the correct level.
7.1.7 After aligning & positioning the adjacent break sections of the switchboard,
connect the structure of the sections to each other by means of jointing bolts.

At the same time, all the horizontal main busbars shall be joined and tighten
with bolts and nuts with the Torque Wrench.
7.1.8 Clean the main busbar compartment.
7.1.9 Refer to the control schematic drawings, connect the inter-panel power and
control cables, and interlocking cables.
7.1.10 Join the earth bars between the sections of the switchboard with bolts and
nuts.
7.1.11 This same procedure shall be repeated for the other break sections of the
electrical switchboard.
7.1.12 Upon completion of the switchboard installation, ensure that all debris within
the switchboard are removed and cleaned.
7.1.13 If there is any damage of components, all parties must record and report on
the same day and inform to the manufacturer with photos.
7.1.14 After completion of installation work, the switch room shall be locked to
prevent unauthorized access.
7.1.15 Upon completion of work, sign the completion of work portion of the PTW and
return the PTW to the Main Contractor for cancellation.

8 Safe Work Procedures And Housekeeping

8.1 All workers shall don proper PPE at all times during work operation.
8.2 Affected work area shall be barricaded and proper signages shall be
displayed to prevent non-related personnel entry.
8.3 All loose materials and tools shall be secured while working at height or
working on the scissor lift or scaffolding.
8.4 All materials and tools shall be properly kept and accounted for at all times.
8.5 Housekeeping shall be done at intervals to ensure the cleanliness and
tidiness of the work area.
8.6 Ensure proper storage of all materials.
8.7 Always use grounded electrical equipment, which have to be regularly
maintained.
8.8 No entering of restricted areas when no authorization is given.
8.9 No smoking is allowed except at the designated smoking areas.
8.10 Do not misuse or remove any fire protection equipment.
8.11 Do not consume alcohol during work hour.
8.12 Always follow operating instruction, if in doubt ask the supervisor or site
engineer.
8.13 Keep hands and body away from moving machinery parts.
8.14 Switch off machine power supply and wait for the moving parts to stop
completely before cleaning or making any adjustments.
8.15 Do not place tools and equipment in any walkways.
