AGENDA DISCUSSION ITEMS

Introduction Health Informatics program is curently run morthan 6 universites. The cariculm
revision activites was conducted at different times. The finalization worksope was
conducted at addis abeba with stakeholder envolvment. The stakeholder were
11,three universities, MoSHe and ministry of health.
As the call of MoSHe we evaluated the harmonized cariculum with stakholders
from Ethiopian health informaticsassociation, ministry of health and program
ownd universites. After reciving inputs from participants, a miner modification
have been made and aggreed that the program:
• Is a year-based program.
• 58 courses included
• A total of 160 credit hours allocated .
Course Participants raised concerns about contentwise issues for some courses and
Contents adjusted based on the participant recommendation.
Due to the endorsement of additional common courses from MoSHe the credit
Credit hour
hour load per semeseter is from 17-21.We did this aiming not compromise the
allocation
competency of the graduates.
There are also course credit allocation issues with our current version curriculum.
Some courses credit were extremely compromised. We managed the issue by
allocating appropriate credits according to contents that needs to be addressed

During the discussion, the participants strongly agreed and concerned that if the
credit will decrease from 160, it will compromise the competency of the
discipline.
The second reason is we will manage the credit issue by changing 16 week
semester to 20 week semester (year based)..

At last, there are some courses like Routine health information system and system
analysis and design still needs extra credits to cover and address their appropriate
contents but due to the maximum credit hour declered by MoSHe, thsese course
will be delivered based on the the compromised credit hour.
