Lesson Topic: TRC (Source Based Question) Date: 17/06/2021

Subject: History Grade: GR.12

 What went well during this lesson? Why do you say so?
Self-Evaluation
The lesson got to a really good start with all learners being on time and settling well.
As part of my preparation I spent the first five minutes discussing the introduction to
the TRC, why was the TRC established, the different committees within the TRC

 What did not go so well during this lesson? Why do you say so?

After the video presentation when I started interacting with them it.They did not know
that this will be a source based question in the exam.

 How could you turn this around?

Get more external sources notes on source based question, how to answer these
questions, and give them examples of old exam papers with memorandums.

 Do you think the class learned what you wanted them to? How do you know?

Yes, after the video presentation they started asking question related to the video, they
had a clear understanding of how an TRC committee worked, and what kind questions
were asked in the hearings.

 What will you do to support and develop this next time?

Prediction & Next  How will you provide support for all learners?
steps  How will you know if this is successful?

 What kind of thinking did you encourage today?

Analysis  How do you know?
 How might a similar lesson be presented differently?
 Can you say the extent to which “thinking about children as learners” influenced
the approach that you adopted?
 How did your lesson encourage the development of their conceptual
understanding?
 Can you tell me some links between your lesson and your professional reading?
 Tell me about the impact of your lesson on the child’s learning.
 How has your input enriched the children’s progress?

I tried to engage the learners in critical thinking rather then only focussing on
outcomes based education, I encourage learners to make connections to a real-life
situation and identify patterns is a great way to practice their critical thinking skills.
While teaching the lesson I ask students to always be on the look for these connections
and how different historical events links to one another, and when they find one of
these links I asked them to tell me and explain. I think the next lesson I would use
more sources to engage critical thinking. I think the lesson had a positive impact on the
learners learning and it enriched the their progress, Evaluating the impact of your
teaching is about measuring the growth in your learners by comparing where they were
at an earlier time with where they are now.

 Can you describe another lesson where content and purpose influenced you to use
Research a different approach?

Yes, In the previous Afrikaans lessons I used Youtube videos to explain concepts to
learners that they don’t grasp using traditional teaching method.. This will helped my
students grasp otherwise complicated topics with much more ease. Additionally,
looked when I started this essay for ways in which I can connect the lesson to previous
lessons and can grow upon those.

 What kind of feed-back would you give yourself for this lesson?
Summary
Lesson went well, I should prepare more, give additional notes, not assume all learners
know how to answer certain questions in the exams.
