ACTIVITY REMARKS
A) ON BLOCK OUT CONDITIONS:
* Close the extraction movs for HPH- 5,4, DEA,,LPH- 2,1 &
ensure the all extraction NRVS are closed.

* Isolate main ejector & add on ejector (both steam side & air
side) and If required take starting ejector under instruction of
control room.

* Check whether EOP is running & ensure the turbine lub.oil


pressure is ok.
WHEN D.G SET COMES IN SERVICE,
a) start OVEF-A

b) Ensure the TGOP is running& EOP is stopped & ensure the


turbine lub.oil pressure is ok.

 Close the oil line for governing v/v and both throttle v/v&
ensure that those valves are closed.

 Cut off the centrifuge.

 Open the atm. Drains (main steam, upper throttle, hp bypass)

 Isolate the generator cooler (water side- inlet v/vs)

 Close the bypass isolation v/v for HPH-4 normal drain to dea
control v/v

 Open turbine gland seal HP&LP side strainer drain v/vs.

 Put on turbine barring gear when turbine speed comes to


zero speed. (The operation procedure for engagement of
turbine barring gear to be followed by LMI/opr/04)

 Ensure that all ACC fans, CCCW fans& CT fans are stopped

 Line up CCCW p/p, compressor, CEP, DEP, BFP


ACTIVITY REMARKS

WHEN POWER SUPPLY IS RESTORED:


a) Start OVEF

B) Start turning gear motor when turbine already on bearing gear

C) Ensure the TGOP is running& EOP is stopped & ensure the


turbine lub.oil pressure is ok.

THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES ARE TO BE CARRIED OUT


UNDER INSTRUCTION OF C.R
 Lined up CCCW p/p (open suction v/v, close discharge v/v)&
after starting p/p through DCS, open discharge v/v& check
the discharge pressure is ok.

 Lined up compressor and start compressor through local


panel & check the loading & unloading operation and charge
air drier

 Lined up CEP (open balancing v/v, open suction v/v, close


the discharge v/v& open r/c bypass v/v,), after starting p/p
through DCS & open discharge v/v& check the pressure is
ok.( do venting through GSB, ejector, lph-1, & 2 areas.

 Lined up DEP (open suction v/v, balancing v/v, close the


discharge v/v), after starting p/p through DCS & open
discharge v/v& check the pressure is ok

 Lined up BFP (open suction v/v, close the discharge v/v&


open manual r/c v/v), after starting p/p through DCS & open
discharge v/v& check the pressure is ok. (Do venting through
hph-4, 5. Areas & Before FCV)

 Ensure that the atm. Drains are opened. (Main steam, upper
throttle, hp bypass)

 Do turbine condenser vacuum pulling (vacuum pulling


procedure are to be followed by lmi/opr/22)

 Lineup the hp bypass system (close the atm drain v/v &
ensure that mov, pcv&tcv are opened)

ACTIVITY REMARKS
 Charge the lub oil cooler if it is required & Charge GEN cooler

* Ensure the turbine brg return oil flow

 Open oil line for both T.V& GOV v/v& ensure that AOP is
running & pressure is ok

 Reset the turbine in local & ensure that trip oil pressure, gov
oil pr& throttle v/v oil pr are ok

 While turbine rolling, ensure the turning gear is disengaged


and stop turning gear motor& close the oil line.

 Check the any abnormal noise, Vibration etc.,

 Check the mop oil pressure is ok

AFTER THE UNIT SYNCHRONISATION

* Start the CT p/p & CT fans

 Cut off starting ejector (if it is in service)

 Close the atm drains

* Close the upper throttle drain new mov ( if it is in opened)

 Ensure the HP bypass mov is closed& open atm drain

 Charge LPH-1, 2 DEA,

 Close the BFP manual r/c v/v & Close the CEP r/c bypass v/v

 Charge the HPH-4, 5

* Line up standby pumps


ACTIVITY

B) WHEN UNIT IS TRIPPED & POWER SUPPLY IS


AVAILABLE, THE FOLLOWING SEQUENCE OF ACTIVITES
IS TO BE CARRIED OUT UNDER INSTRUCTION OF C.R.
 Ensure the AOP is running& turbine lub oil pressure is ok

 Ensure turbine throttle v/vs & Gov v/v are closed

 Open BFP manual r/c v/v which one is service

 Open CEP r/c bypass v/v

 Stop CT fans

 Isolate the gen. Cooler (inlet v/vs to be closed)

 To maintain lub oil temp around 40 degc by regulating


cooler cooling water line.

 Ensure the all extractions movs & NRV are closed

 Open the atm. Drains (main steam, upper throttle, hp bypass)

 Close the HPH-4 normal drain to dea control v/v bypass v/v

 Put on turbine barring gear when turbine speed comes to


zero speed.( the operation procedure for engagement of
turbine barring gear to be followed by lmi/opr/04)
AFTER THE BOILER IS LIGHTEDUP
* Lineup the hp bypass system (close the atm drain v/v & ensure
the MOV is opened & ensure the PCV,TCV are opened)
TURBINE ROLLING
 Ensure the oil line for turbine throttle v/vs & gov. V/v are
opened

 Ensure the AOP is running & pressure is ok


 Reset the turbine in local & ensure the trip oil pressure is ok
& throttle v/vs & Gov oil pressure is ok

 Charge the gen. Cooler

ACTIVITY REMARKS
 While turbine rolling, ensure the turning gear is disengaged
automatically and stop turning gear motor& close the oil line

 Check the any abnormal noise, Vibration etc.,

 Check the mop oil pressure is ok

ACTIVITY REMARKS
ACTIVITY
A) ON BLACK OUT CONDITIONS:
1. Give trip command from hard wired panel push button for the
turbine immediately and confirm that the throttle valves and the
Governor valve have closed and Give trip command to all HT / LT
drives
2. Ensure that A/C supply to lights of control room is available
automatically from UPS. Ensure that emergency lights at other
areas such as switch gear room, 400 KVA DG set area, turbine
floor are switch ‘ON’

3. Ensure that the FC-NRV’s of H.P and LP Heaters are closed

4. Ensure that the MOV of Deaerator Extraction, H.P.H – 4&5,


LPH – 1&2 are closed by manually.

5. Check Turbine-DC-Lub oil pump has started on auto and Lub


oil Pr. is O.K

6. If D.C Lub oil pump does not come on auto, then start
manually from DCS or old control Desk MCD 001 or start it from
local (Near MOT-Top)

7. If DC-Lub oil pump is not getting started from locally also, then
start turning gear oil pump after DG set is available

8. In case the lub oil supply is not getting restored, in spite of


above action and the lub oil pr. goes below the tripping value of
0.4 kill the vacuum by opening vacuum breaker valve immediately.
Isolate gland steam supply when vacuum comes to 100 mm of Hg.
(-0.13 Kg./cm2)

9. Ensure that the oil valve for both TVs and G.V are closed

10.When DG-set has come and emergency bus is charged, then


start AOP and stop D.C lub oil pump (In case of 110 KVA DG set
running AOP is not to be started and only TGOP to be started)
11.After the rotor has comes to rest, start TGOP and stop AOP.
Put the m/c on barring gear

12. If HP-by pass valve is in service, get the valve closed from
DCS

ACTIVITY

13. Ensure that all atm drains are opened & close the main steam line
mov, upper throttle line mov (incase in opened conditions) and open
lower throttle drain mov,1st stage wheel case drain mov& HP cylinder
drain mov
14. Ensure that the main ejector & add on ejector are isolated and
charge starting ejector.
15. If the lub oil had been restored to bearings, then open the
vacuum breaker valve when Turbine speed is less than 400 rpm
and then isolate gland steam supply at a vacuum of 100mm of Hg.
16. Ensure that Lined up CCCWP/P, COMPRESSOR, CEP, DEP,
BFP
17. Await further instructions from SCE / U.C
When power supply is restored
 Ensure that no PTWs which could hamper start up are pending

 Check if all the parameters are indicated correctly in the DCS /


recorders as required at the time of start up

* Check whether turbine is on barring gear, turbine lub oil pr is


OK and bearing return oil flows are OK (during supply change
over)
* Ensure that the OVEF is in service (during supply change over)

 Check whether CST/ Hot well level/CCCW tank level are OK

 Start the CCCW p/p through DCS& venting out the system&
check cooling water pressure is ok. ensure that the air heat
exchanger& plate heat exchanger are charged.

 Start air compressor & charge air drier& Check whether


instrument air pr is OK

 Line up condensate system. Check whether CEP manual


recirculation valve (V-37) is open. Put one CEP in service and
the second one on auto
 Check hotpot level and put DEP in service
ACTIVITY
 Check deaerator level

 Line up feed water system

 Charge deaerator pegging steam (V-101, 102) and maintain


deaerator pressure through Deaerator PCV (PCV-200)

 Put BFP in service (Discharge valve closed and recirculation


valve open) & Bring drum level to normal

Before charging the main steam line, ensure that the


following activities are completed
 Check whether vacuum breaker valve is open

 Check whether ejector steam and seal steam lines


atmospheric drains(V-55,59,65,66) are open and drains to
hotpot(V-57) are closed

 Check whether HP bypass line drain to atmosphere (V-147,


149) is open and drain to hotpot (V-148) is closed

 Check whether throttle valves lower drain (KHMV-52), 1st stage


casing drain (KHMV-53) and cylinder drain (KHMV-54) are
open

 Check whether main steam line atmospheric drain is open and


drain to hotpot (MV-101) is closed

 Check whether throttle valves upper atmospheric drain is open


and drain to hotpot (KHMV-51) is closed

 Ensure that HP/LP htrs extraction isolation valves are closed

 Check whether extraction line drains to atmosphere


downstream of extraction valves are open

 Ensure that all the extraction line drains to hotpot upstream of


extraction valves are open
 Take one set of TSI readings

ACTIVITY
 Charge main steam line (Bypass valve, MV-07, of boiler stop
valve to be opened first)
 Charge seal steam
 At 40 ksc drum pr, start Acc fans 5&6, close vacuum breaker
and start vacuum pulling through starting ejector

 Line up main ejector and add on ejector (Ejector condenser


drain siphons to be filled up, the drain line steam trap to remain
in service with its bypass closed)

 Start ACC fan 11 & 12

 At –0.75 ksc vacuum put main ejector and add on ejector in


service
 Line up HP bypass (Close HP bypass line drain) & Charge HP
bypass (pcv&tcv)

 Monitor hotpot level

 Start more no of ACC fans as required

 Open main steam line/ throttle valves drains to hotpot and


close the main steam line atmospheric drain. Throttle valve
upper atmospheric drain may be kept open. Open extraction
valves downstream line drains to hotpot and close atmospheric
drains.

 Reset the generator

 Reset the turbine from DCS and local

 Check mechanical trip devices (low lube oil pressure, thrust


bearing wear high, low condenser vacuum)

 Open throttle valves and governing valve oil supplies gradually.

 Check whether governing valve has opened fully


 Check and record whether turbine eccentricity is within limits
Eccentricity:

 Charge cooling water to generator air cooler

ACTIVITY
 Ensure that turning gear engaging lever is free to disengage on
turbine speeding

 Put throttle valves, governing valve and speed control on auto

 Set the speed gradient to the value as determined from hot


start up curves

 Raise the turbine speed to 2700 rpm

 Switch off the turbine turning gear motor and isolate oil line
after ensuring that turning gear engaging lever is disengaged.

 Check and record all turbine supervisory instruments at 2700


rpm and see whether all readings are within limits

Turbine casing top/bottom temp difference:

 Check whether MOP is developing pressure


MOP Pr:
 Check turbine locally

 Check whether lower of the LTV/RTV deep metal temperatures


is greater than saturation temperature corresponding to steam
pressure at throttle valve inlet

 Push TV/GV transfer. Check whether governing valves are


closing & Check whether throttle valves have opened fully

 Set the speed gradient to 150 rpm/min &then Raise turbine


speed to 3000 rpm

 Stop AOP if MOP disch. Pr. is normal. Put all oil p/ps on Auto

 Charge cooling water to lube oil cooler


 Carry out oil injection test for turbine overspeed at 3000 rpm
and note down the pressure at which it acts. (This test may
only be carried out if the previous oil injection test was done
more than 15 days earlier)

ACTIVITY

* Start GT cooler fans

 Line up GT breaker isolators

 Close field breaker and put excitation on manual

 Synchronize the unit &then Switch off capacitor bank

 Hold at 5% load for the time as determined from hot start up


curves. Close HP bypass gradually taking care of drum level

 Check that the extraction line drains are not choked and flow is
there (Lines would be hot)

 Check whether LP heaters are lined up: Drip isolation


valves(V-115,116,118,119,121,122) open, Shell vents to
hotpot(V-187,188,189,190) open, Extraction line drain v/vs
open.

 Charge LP heaters one by one starting with LPH-1. Close shell


start up vents and extraction line atmospheric drains

 Isolate the starting ejector

 Charge deaerator extraction, isolate pegging steam (V-


101,102) and put Deaerator PCV(PCV-200) on Auto.

 At 13 MW close all turbine drains, throttle valve drains and MS


line drain

 Change over auxiliaries from station transformer to UAT

 Check whether HP heaters are lined up: Drip line isolation


v/vs(V-101,103,105,106,108,110,112,113) open, Shell vents(V-
183,184,185,186,131,132) open, Extraction line drain v/vs
open.
 Charge HP heaters extraction
 Close HP heaters shell start up vents
 At full load check whether all turbine supervisory instrument
readings are within limits

 Check and record turbine absolute expansion

 Check whether turbine metal temperatures, lube oil


temperature, bearing temperatures are within limits

 Inspect turbine and boiler locally

* Check availability of standby CEP, DEP, BFP and CCCW p/p


ACTIVITY
INCASE OF POWER SUPPLY IS AVAILABLE

 Switch on capacitor bank


* Note down the first out cause of tripping of the turbine.
* Make a note of the alarms in the generator alarm panel and
the relays, which had acted in the GRP.
* Ensure that UA supply has changed over to station
transformer then switch “ON “ capacitor bank.
* Open the generator breaker isolator
 Check whether AOP is running& lube oil pressure is ok.
 Trip the ACC fans as based on condenser vacuum and if
vacuum is dropping take-starting ejector. And maintain the
condenser vacuum.
 Stop all CCCW fans & CT P/P, all CT fans.
 Monitor maximum demand
 Ensure that all extractions movs& FC-NRV are closed
 Ensure that turbine both throttle valves &gov v/v are closed
 Open all drain movs to hotpot & ensure that all drains to atm
are opened
 Open BFP manual R/C V/V & ensure that manual v/v is
opened
 Open CEP R/C control v/v & ensure that bypass v/v is
opened and monitor the CEP current.
 If deaerator level is going high, close the LPH-2 condensate
outlet
 Ensure that HPH-4 normal drain to dea bypass v/v is closed.
 Monitor lub oil temp and if it is below the rated value isolate
the cooler.
 Ensure that the gen cooler is isolated
 Check whether turbine is on barring gear, turbine lube oil pr is
ok and bearing return oil flows are OK
 Monitor CST, HOTWELL, HOTPOT, DEA, CCCW TANK
Level.
 Drum Pr :
Condenser vacuum:
ACC fans in service :
CEP in service :
BFP in service :
DEP in service :
CCCW p/p in service :
OVEF in service:
 Ensure whether throttle valves and governing valve oil
supplies are closed.

 Check if all the parameters are indicated correctly in the


DCS/recorders as required at the time of start up.

 Check whether SH spray v/v (FSV-012) is closed & ensure


the isolation valve closed.

 Check whether turbine is on barring gear, turbine lub oil pr is


ok and bearing return oil flows are OK

 Check whether main steam line atmospheric drain and drain


to hotpot (MV-101) is open

 Check whether throttle valves upper atmospheric drain and


drain to hotpot (KHMV-51) is open

 Ensure that extraction isolation valves of HP/LP heaters are


closed.

 Ensure that all the extraction line drains to hotpot are open

 Check whether HP bypass drains are open

 Check whether throttle valves lower drain (KHMV-52), 1st


stage casing drain (KHMV-53) and cylinder drain (KHMV-54)
are open.
 Take one set of TSI readings

 Check and record whether turbine eccentricity is within limits


Eccentricity :

 Charge cooling water to generator air cooler

 Steam temperature should have at least 55 deg C superheat


before turbine rolling. Steam temperature before turbine
rolling should be determined from the hot start up curves and
is dependent on the HP base metal temperature existing
before turbine rolling. The speed gradient is also to be
determined from the hot start up curves. The table given in
Annexure-I may be used as a guideline for determining the
steam temperature to be achieved before turbine rolling

 Ensure that turning gear engaging lever is free to disengage


on turbine speeding.

 Put throttle valves, governing valve and speed control on


auto

 Set the speed gradient to the value as determined from hot


start up curves

 Raise the turbine speed to 2700 rpm

 Switch off the turning gear motor and isolate the oil line after
ensuring that the turning gear engaging lever has disengaged

 Check and record all turbine supervisory instrument readings


at 2700 rpm and see whether they are within limits.

 Check whether MOP is developing pressure.


MOP Pr:

 Check turbine locally


 turbine base and cover metal temperatures and turbine
exhaust temperature to see whether they are within limits

 Check whether lower of the LTV/RTV deep metal


temperatures is greater than saturation temperature
corresponding to steam pressure at throttle valve inlet

 Push TV/GV transfer

 Check whether governing valves are closing

 Check whether throttle valves have opened fully

 Set the speed gradient to 150 rpm/min

 Raise turbine speed to 3000 rpm

 Stop AOP if MOP disch. pr is normal. Put all oil p/ps on auto.

 Charge cooling water to lub oil coooler

 Carry out oil injection test for turbine overspeed at 3000 rpm
and note down the pressure at which it acts.(Oil injection test
may only be carried out if the last test was done more than 15
days earlier).

 Start GT cooler fans

 Line up GT breaker isolators

 Close field breaker and put excitation on Manual

 Synchronise the unit & switch off capacitor bank.

 Put the excitation in auto mode


Hold at 5% load for the time as determined from hot start up
curves.

 Close HP bypass gradually taking care of drum level

 Check that the extraction line drains are not choked and flow
is there (lines would be hot)
 Check whether LP heaters are lined up: Drip isolation valves
( V-115,116,118,119,121,122 ) are open, Shell vents to
hotpot ( V-187,188,189,190) are open, extraction line drain
valves are open.

 Charge LP heaters one by one starting with LPH-1. Close


shell start up vents and extraction line atmospheric drains.

 Isolate the starting ejector

 Charge deaerator extraction, isolate pegging steam (V-


101,102) and put deaerator PCV(PCV-200) on auto.

 At 13 MW close all turbine drains, throttle v/v drains and MS


line drain

 Change over auxiliaries from station transformer to UAT

 Normalise SH spray
 Check whether HP heaters are lined up: Drip line isolation
v/vs(V-101,103,105,106,108,110,112,113) open, Shell
vents(V-183,184,185,186,131,132) open, extraction line drain
v/vs open.

 Charge HP heaters extraction and close shell start up vents

 At full load check whether all TSI readings are within limits

 Check and record turbine absolute expansion


 Check whether turbine metal temperatures, lube oil
 temperature, bearing temperatures are within limits.
 Select standby pumps on auto mode
ON BLOCK CONDITIONS:

1.Check that 400-kVA DG set has started on auto and achieved


rated Voltage within10 seconds of station supply failure.
(DG set voltage indication is available on MMB-700)

a) If DG set does not start on auto within 10 seconds, start the


Engine thro’ Local start PB.
-
b) In case, 400KVA DG set does not get started or any
problem arises in power cable from DG set or in Main MCCB, start
110 KVA DG set.

2. CHARGING 380 V EMERGENCY SWGR BOARD: A

a) Once DG set starts running at rated voltage, confirm that


Emergency SWGR No- A is live with supply from DG set With in
10-15 seconds of Supply failure {DG set incomer (OCK52G1A)
should close after tripping of Emg.board- A incomer
(OCK52I2A)}

b) In case OCK52G1A does not close on auto, within 10-15


sec, the same is to be closed from DCS console.

c) In case OCK52G1A does not close, against command from


DCS the same is to be closed, with the help of Manual close {after
ensuring Emg.board- A incomer (OCK52I 2A) and Emg. Board
interconnector (OCK52C2) are opened}

3.CHARGING 380 V EMERGENCY SWGR BOARD: B

a) Close Emg. Board interconnector (OCK52C2) from DCS

b) In case it does not close, against the command from DCS


console, close the Breaker with the help of manual CLOSE PB, after
ensuring that Emg.board-B incomer (OCK52I2B) is Open.

4. CHARGING UASB SECTION EA&EB:
a) After Emergency Swgr No.1 is charged from DG set, check
that Supply is normalized to 380 V Unit Service Switch gear
1CKQL01 Sec. A&B through Emg.incomer (1CK52C3) and UASB
Bus coupler (1CK52C1), on auto (380 v auto changeover button
should be ‘ON’)

b) In case 1CK52C3 has not closed on AUTO, Close


1CK52C3 from DCS Console. (380 v auto changeover button
should be ‘OFF’)

c) In case it still does not close from DCS, close 1CK52C3


With the help of manual close PB after ensuring that UASB
incomer-B (1 CK 52 I 1B), UASB Bus section coupler-B
(ICK52C2B) and UASB Bus coupler (1CK52C1) are open

d) In case 1CK52C1 has not closed on AUTO, Close


1CK52C3 from DCS Console.

e) In case it still does not close from DCS, close 1CK52C1


With the help of manual close after ensuring that UASB incomer-A
(1 CK 52 I 1A), UASB Bus section coupler-A (ICK52C2A) are
opened

4. CHARGING LIGHTING BOARD: 1 (sec A& B)

a) After Emergency Swgr No. A is charged from DG set, check


that Sec-B of Lighting Board No.1 got charged through EM.LTG.tr
No.1 (OCK52I 5A should close) on auto.

b) - In case, it does not get charged on auto, close OCK52 I 5A


after manually, with the help of lever on the MCCB, after
confirming that LTG BOARD INCOMER -A (OCK52I3A) is Open.

C) - In case Bus coupler OCK52C1A of Ltg Board No.1 is not


in closed condition, the same is to be closed manually, after
ensuring that OCK52I3A is in tripped condition (This will resume
supply to UPS)

5.CHARGING LIGHTING BOARD: 2 (SEC A&B)

a) After Em. Swgr No.B is charged, Sec-B of Ltg Board No.2


should get charged through EM-LTG-TR No.2, on AUTO.
(OCK52I5B should close)
b) In case it does not get charged, Close OCK52I5B, manually
with the help of the lever on MCCB after ensuring that Bus Coupler
(OCK52C2A) is OPEN

. 6. Confirm that Sec-B of HVSS ACDB is Live


(Supply EM.Swgr.No.2) Confirm that MCC B No: 2/1 on Sec-B is
ON.
Otherwise,
(a) Switch off MCCB No: 1/1 on Sec-A of HVSS ACDB (Supply for
110 KV Isolators from GAS)

(b) Switch on MCCB No: 2/1 on Sec-B of HVSS ACDB


(Alternate supply for 110 KV Isolators)

(c) Check that 110 V DC changer-B is ON and Battery charging


current is positive

7. Confirm that both the chargers of 220 V DC, 48 V DC, UPS


(NUMERIC & MERLIN) systems are “ON” and Battery
charging current is positive.

8. Check that Diesel level, water level, oil / water temp, oil pr.,
Voltage, current, speed is all normal for the running DG set
9. Confirm Generator breaker & Field breakers are opened,

12. Run and check the readiness of 110 KVA DG set, to take load
in case of any problem arising in 400 KVA DG set

13.Confirm that the Breakers of following drives have tripped

a) All HT Drives (ID-A&B, FD-A&B, PA-A&B, Mills-A, B, C, D)

b) LT Drives (CEP-A/B, ACC Fans # 1-14, Dry vac. PP-A/B)
14. Give a trip command to all Drives, through DCS, to reset any
persisting `AUTO START’ command, to prevent unexpected starting
of any drive, on resumption of supply. (Deselect from standby mode)

15. Check whether any Electrical Protections / Relays have


operated on any of the 110 KV, 6 KV and 380 V Breakers.

RESTORATION OF ELECTRICAL SUPPLIES:

1. Clearance may be given to Gummidipoondi SS for charging the


110 KV line if no relay has operated on 110 KV side. And confirm
voltage indication in the voltmeters of line -1&2, on MMB-800 panel,
after both lines are charged from Gpd ss.

2. Close 110 KV Breaker of line-1, 2 & Bus coupler. (Keeping the


synchronizing switch of line-1, 2 in ON position) and confirm that
110KV bus voltage are within 110KV +/- 10% range (i.e. 99 KV- 121
KV)

3. Close 110KV breaker of station transformer from MMB-800panel

4. Close 6KV breaker of station transformer from DCS. Check


whether 6KV voltage is within limit otherwise adjust tap position.

5. The following activities are carried out through DCS:

 Close GAS bus coupler (OCE52C0)

CHARGING GASB SECTION A&B:


a) Close GAST-A incomer (OCE52T1A) and Close GASB
incomer-A (OCK52TIA) & GASB bus coupler (OCK52C) in opened
condition.

b) Close GAST-B incomer (OCE52T1B) and Close GASB


incomer-B (OCK52TIB)& GASB bus coupler (OCK52C) in opened
condition.

 Close interconnector (OCE52C1)

 Close tie breaker (1CE52C)


CHARGING UASB SECTION A&B:
a) Close UAST-A incomer (1CE52T1A), TRIP UASB bus coupler
1CK52C1, close UASB incomer-A (1CK52TIA)& UASB bus section
coupler (1CK52C2A). (380V auto c/o switch kept in off mode)

b) Close UAST-B incomer (1CE52T1B), TRIP emergency


incomer 1CK52C3, close UASB incomer-B (1CK52TIB)& UASB bus
section coupler (1CK52C2B). (380V auto c/o switch kept in off
mode)

CHARGING ACC BUS SECTION A&B:

a) Close ACC transformer--A incomer (1CE52T2A) & 380V

 Check that all battery chargers A&B of 220V, UPS (numeric


&Merlin) 110V, and 48V dc systems are on and battery
charge/discharge current indication is on charge side.

 Keep 380 V auto switch in on mode

 Confirm that supply is available on both section of HVSS ACDB-


A&B
 Ensure that all indications of under voltage relays are resetted.
The intent of the instruction is to ensure safe coasting down of all
equipments and brought to unit on safer side. Failure to do so may result in
unforeseen delays and costly damages. The local turbine engineer is
responsible for doing the following sequence of activities and filled up the
checklist formats & coordinate with control room engineer. However, it is
pertinent to note here that such checklists are for normal cases only and
under unusual circumstances the procedure to be followed will be
determined by the judgment of the operating personnel.
ON BLOCK CONDITIONS:
Ensure that the following breakers are closed on auto or DCS
command otherwise closed by manual under instruction from C.R.

1 a) Check that 400-kVA DG set has started on auto

b) Start the Engine thro’ Local start PB.

c) Start 110 KVA DG set, after getting clearance EMD.

in Closed condition)
6.CHARGING LIGHTING BOARD: 2 (SEC A&B)

a) Trip Bus Coupler (OCK52C2A)


Close OCK52I5B
Close Bus coupler OCK52C2A of Ltg Board No.2 (if it is not
in closed condition)

7. Confirm that Sec-B of HVSS ACDB is Live


(Supply EM.Swgr.No.2) Confirm that MCC B No: 2/1 on Sec-B is
ON.
Otherwise,
(a) Switch off MCCB No: 1/1 on Sec-A of HVSS ACDB (Supply for
110 KV Isolators from GAS)

(b) Switch on MCCB No: 2/1 on Sec-B of HVSS ACDB


(Alternate supply for 110 KV Isolators)

(c) Check that 110 V DC changer-B is ON and Battery charging


current is positive

8. Check that Diesel level, water level, oil / water temp, oil pr.,
Voltage, current, speed is all normal for the running DG set

9. Confirm Generator breaker, isolator & Field breakers are


opened.

10. Ensure that the station transformer, line 1&2 breakers &
isolators are opened.

11.Confirm that the Breakers of following drives have tripped

a) All HT Drives (ID-A&B, FD-A&B, PA-A&B, Mills-A, B, C, D)

b) LT Drives (CEP-A/B, ACC Fans # 1-14, Dry vac. PP-A/B)

12. Check whether any Electrical Protections / Relays have

down the logbook.
RESTORATION OF ELECTRICAL SUPPLIES:

1.Ensure that the 110 KV Breaker & isolators of line-1, 2 & Bus
coupler are closed. (Relay should be resetted before closing)

2.Ensure that the 110KV breaker of station transformer is closed


(Relay should be resetted before closing)

3. Ensure that the 6KV breaker of station transformer is closed.


Check whether 6KV voltage is within limit.

4.Ensure that the GAS bus coupler (OCE52C0) is closed.

* Ensure that the following breakers are closed on DCS


command otherwise closed manually

10.Stop 400 KVA DG SET

11.Check that all battery charger of 110V and battery


charge/discharge current indication is on charge sid
12.Confirm that supply is available on both section of HVSS ACDB-
A&B
13.Reset that all indications of under voltage relays of breakers.
In case of power supply is available:
 Switch on capacitor bank
 Monitor maximum demand (if demand goes beyond inform C.R)
 Ensure that GT cooling fan are stopped
 Ensure that GT breaker, field breaker and isolator are opened.
 Ensure that UT incomer breaker is in tripped conditions. & Tie-breaker
is closed.
 Check any relay is acted in switchyard room & switchgear room.
 Check the conditions of st transformer, & aux. service transforms.
 Check the battery systems of 110V D.C.
 Normalize the power supply for the following movs:
a) H.P by pass mov
b) F.W movs & main steam stop v/v mov& bypass mov
WHILE SYNCHRONISING THE UNIT TO GRID

a)Ensure that the GT bus isolator& field breaker are closed


b)Ensure that the GT breaker is closed & GT fans are running.
* Switch off capacitor bank
 While charging UT: Ensure that UT incomer breaker is closed&
tiebreaker is tripped.
 Check that oil & winding temp of GT, ST, UT, & service
transformer
 Check that excitation transformer temperature.
 Check that power supply of stand by pumps.
